I visited st basil while I was in Moscow for the world cup. I had to stand in a line for an hour (I would recommend buying tickets before hand) and it was more than worth it. The architecture is amazing, and the wall/roof art inside is superb(see images)

Absolutely beautiful and fantastic cathedral, full of history, surrounded by the red square and the walls. Must visit if you're in town.

We got there two times, once when red square was open and when you could only access the cathedral through a pathway. Did not have the chance to go in. As a difference with other cathedrals, the tops are not golden but colorful, which are a big difference to other cathedrals in moscow.
The building is as great as you see in photos (and the old Tetris loading screen). The great thing is to be standing in the red square, thinking about the history of the place and having this cathedral in the background with the kremlin.
A must see in a Moscow visit

You need to wake up early to visit this monument because it is one of the most well-known in Moscow ! We waited 30 minutes early in the morning so you can imagine if you want to go on the afternoon.
The outside of the basilic is astonished as well as the inside.
Go for it !
