The reception "Lisa" was very accommodating and she will assist you with your needs inside the hotel and on how you can go around the city. I met 3 (Lisa mostly run the hotel and the other 2 i met briefly) receptionists and they speak and understand good English.

I did not expect the room and the hotel to be cramped looking at the pictures in this site. My wife and i are not that tall (152 cms. and 173 cms.) and not on the heavy side and yet we can not move around the room without rubbing elbows with each other. With our 2 pieces of 25 kilo luggage the room even became more tight.

The internet is Free and it was fast.

The toilet is shared (2 showers and 1 without) among the guests. I liked the shower as the water was very strong. The toilets were well maintained all the time.

It has a small kitchen where you can heat food or maybe cook (we did not cook there) some light food. Coffee and tea are free 24/7.

It is tricky to find the hotel as there are no visible hotel sign (not even my taxi driver found a sign). You have to ensure that you have the address on hand that is how i found the hotel - i asked around. The hotel is at the back of another building and the access is through a private parking area.

There is no elevator in the building so if you have heavy bags you will have to bring it up to go to the reception or down when you leave to or from the 2nd or 3rd floor (i forgot which floor). Ergo this hotel is not suited for handicapped guests.

The location of the hotel is a safe area but not walking distance to the center or the sites of Moscow. You can however walk (maybe 300 meters) to the Metro 8 Taganskaya Station to go to the center or the sites or just anywhere you want to go.

There are some cafes, fast food (KFC Burger King) and a grocery store within 10 minutes walking from the hotel.

Room tip: Room 16 was quiet.

We spent about 5 nights in the Winterfell during a recent trip to Moscow. Upon arrival, the receptionist was extremely brash and rude to us when we presented her with some small issues relating to our online booking. The hostel itself was really clean, but also really crammed with way too many guests for the size of the property. There were also only two shower rooms/ bathrooms for the whole hostel, which had a line every morning. It's also worth noting that this hostel does not have any designated common area to mingle with other guests. The kitchen was pathetically small being located across from the front door and reception. I certainly did not feel comfortable getting creative with any cooking here. It was really only useful for preparing instant meals like soups and noodles.

During our visit we had decent WiFi (free) and a 24 hour code for our door. Please note that the hostel has super thin walls, so expecting a great sleep will be optimistic. Otherwise, for the price to stay here I'd say its fine for Moscow prices, but certainly a no-frill experience. Finally it's worth mentioning that the Game of Thrones theme is quirky and different. I enjoyed the mural of the dragon at the back of the hostel. + 1 for not overdoing it and keeping it tasteful!

Also, this hostel is about 30-40 minutes walk from the Kremlin/ Red Square areas. It is also about 3 minutes from the Taganskaya Metro station, which offers great connections to other areas of the city.
