Review of Lapu Lapu Statue

Lapu Lapu Statue
Reviewed 25 April 2018 via mobile

Interesting and very crowded place. But the statue of Lapu Lapu is not as big as it is said. You can get many authentic gift items. Do not forget to negotiate but it is already quite cheap.

Beautiful little park around that impressive statue of a native warrior leader, Lapu Lapu, who fought the Spanish invaders lead by Magellan. Locals lovely and respectfuly call this statue dad. Magellan was killed by Lapu Lapu during the fights. The 20m high statue has been build just opposite of the Magellan shrine build by the Spanish invaders.

If you are in to history this might be of interest to you.
Its is located in a very well kept park and yards (eye distance) to where the battle of Lapu Lapu and Magellan took place.
You dont need more than maybe 30min to visit the location. Its best to find a tour that includes this as a stop.

The statue in honor of the native chief Datu Lapu-Lapu who slayed the navigator Magellan who was trying to conquer his homeland and make him a subject of the Spanish king. This shrine is a place to see for the history enthusiasts and those who simply love the Philippines.
