For a good time, try the Eagles bar, next to the entrance. It is the only well-appointed bar that I have seen in Davao so far. A cozy place, good for a relaxed conversation with friends. Thankfully no tv-screens with loud soccer matches playing. Although, when it is getting late, you can do some karaoke if you dare. And they have cold Heineken on draft - a relief after returning from the noise and heat of the city.

This hotel has been around for quite some time and was considered as top hotel in Davao. Unfortunately, it has seen its good days.. Our last stay there was way disappointing. Have booked and paid for Premier Suite for 3 months only to be given a different room during check in!!!!!. Their reason? There was a repair on the roof?!!!..WTH!.. Nobody repaired it before we checked in? And got no direct reply..!..Added to the disappointment was the nonfunctioning air-conditioning..!...Hopefully they will get their stuff together or else they will be left obsolete like the others..

Room tip: Cabana rooms by the pool are great, if they roof are repaired though..!

We love Marco Polo hotel. Though we think our Marco Polo Cebu experience is still better, I am still giving this a five star due to location and the package. The hotel is located at Roxas where there's a night market! We got the Piccolo Kid package - breakfast for kid was inclusive, room was kid friendly, there are stuffs for kids, etc. It would been nice if there are free toys, too. :D

I recently stayed at Marco Polo (19-23 Aug) with my wife and we had been looking forward to spending quality time in this acclaimed hotel but left feeling extremely disappointed, wondering if we would even want to make this our hotel of choice on our next visit to Davao.

Plus Point:
Impressed by the attentiveness of the hotel staff who were polite and helpful when we needed assistance ranging from having to change room/ tracking my "missing laundry" & arranging our transportation.

Minus Point:
Hotel looked impressed from the outside but the impression went downhill once we entered the lift, leading to our room.
The corridor/carpets looked dirty/stained and the room looked tired, definitely unacceptable for such an established hotel.
The aircon in our initial room wasn't functioning well and it left us perspiring in the mist of our sleep.
We voiced our concerns first thing the next morning and were promptly given a new room but the water pressure from the shower in the new room was literally trickling/mixer for hot & cold water wasn't working. Bathtub choked in the mist of showering. Temperature of the aircon was errectic, cold at times and then turned warmed.
We gave up wanting to raise further on the facilities and just felt that it's a great pity that our stay was marred by the inferior state of the facilities.
More needs to be done to justify this brand name.

Room tip: Make sure your shower/aircon works
