Very beautiful sunsets! Nice place to visit on the weekend as it is more full with locals and tourists and really nice Latino music!

We walked around encarnacion all day and it was pretty boring to tell you the truth. We were s little disappointed that lonely planet had mentioned it as a top place to visit in South America because it made us add it to our travel plans.
When we got to the beach at around 7pm on the first day we were a little blown away. The view of posadas is amazing and the sunset was wonderful. This is the best thing about encarnacion without a doubt!

the "encarncaenos" know how to take care of the beach! it´s allways clean, there is some recent history around this place, because some neighborhoods where flooded by the Yacyreta-dam, and so playa San José was born! The only thing i don´t like is the loud music at the shops and restaurants at the beach.

During the heat of the day (during the week at least) it's deserted and there is absolutely no shade. But the place comes to life around sunset and most of the beach bars/restaurants begin to open around 5pm. At both ends of the beach there are very clean toilet blocks (white buildings, 2000G) and there are a heap of volleyball nets permanently set up. The city does a superb job of keeping the sand clean. For a river beach, this is terrific!
