Best place on earth

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 07 Sept 2024
Me and my fiance came back a year after our first trip to TSL. Amazing nature and the fishing is out of this world. Cought my first ever pacific Blue Marlin, 40+ sailfish in 6 days and finally a true fish of a lifetime, a 70 pound Roosterfish.

What really made us come back all the way from Sweden, besides the fishing and fantastic natur, are the people. The staff truly made us feel like family once again. All you could ask for, they already thought of.

We have traveled all around the world and this is without a doubt our favorite place!

Everything from food to service to fishing exceeded expectations. Caught 20+ sailfish, several yellowfin tuna, a few mahi, and a black marlin in 3 days fishing. Food was plentiful, room was clean and comfortable, my only regret is I didn’t book a longer stay

Room tip: Everything is so well organized

The fish are the main attraction. But it was outdone by the friendly staff, delicious food, the tasty cocktails, the general sense of relaxation & absence of any stress. MASSIVE Thanks to Ross, Pat, Richard & Bryce for creating special memories that we will cherish forever. Coming back as soon as possible. On the hunt for a chicken fish. ;-).

Room tip: Tips - be nice to people.

This is truly a wonderful 5 star resort. The entire staff treats everyone as if you are the only person at the resort. Ross, Gabrielle, Brandon, Richard and all the staff go out of their way to make your stay with them absolutely perfect. Of course you go there to fish and it is absolutely the best bill fishing in the world, along with catching tuna, dolphin, rooster fish, etc. No one is ever disappointed with fishing at Tropic Star. If you don’t fish there are plenty of activities to do—paddle board, hiking, private beach, pool, recreation room, etc. ABSOLUTELY THE BEST!

Room tip: If you like exercising be sure to get the Palace or Presidential houses. They’re gorgeous and nice for families

Amazing experience in an absolutely beautiful place!
My first trip to Panama.
Just returned from a father-sons fishing trip and we had an awesome time at Tropic Star Lodge. The staff was all "5 star"; from the fishing director to our boat captain and mates to the kitchen staff and bartenders. The accommodations were modern, comfortable, and clean. Everything was meticulously cared for. Everyone was friendly. The smiles and care were genuine. The food was incredible! Honestly some of the best tasting food I have ever had. The attention to detail was some of the best service and hospitality that I have ever personally experienced.
The fishing was great! Our group (5 guys) caught sailfish, tuna, dorado, roosterfish, red snapper, and several other species over the course of 6 days of fishing. We were extremely happy with our captain (Fidel) and our 2 mates (Jose and Frank). They did a great job of not only getting us in the right places to catch the fish, but they also kept us involved and explained their reasons for using the strategies we were using.
One tip: if Spanish is not a strength, work on it before going! We did not and communication was a bit more challenging. The folks who work in the lodge generally have more English fluency but the fishing staff would have benefitted from us having more Spanish fluency. We were able to make it work but communication was harder than it needed to be because we didn't prepare and assumed everyone knew English.
Overall, an absolutely awesome experience that I hope to repeat many times in the coming years.
Can't wait to return!
