The food was great, the staff was nice, the rooms were ok, but the fishing for me was disappointing. Our captain and mate didn't speak a word of English and we don't speak Spanish, so there was zero interaction with each other. The first day out was rough and we caught a very nice Dorado and a sailfish, then my wife and I both got sick. The only way the crew noticed we were in trouble was when I pointed out we were both sick and would like to fish off the shoreline. The second day, we stayed near the shore and had a great day of fishing. Then we had 3 days of offshore fishing with no bites, no conversation, and no interaction (caught a couple of small dorado on the 4th and last day offshore). They fished the same place with no other boats in sight, and it seemed they had no plan B if things didn't go well. The other boats were catching marlin (38 that week), but we barely even saw one. Go with a group of guys so you can entertain yourself, because our crew didn't so much as say "Hello" all day. The staff was disappointed in our review and suggested a good deal if we would try again, but I got an online ad for the same 20% off so I can't say they tried very hard. Maybe I'll try again some day, but convincing my wife to go back may be another story. The other guests at the lodge had some great stories and wonderful pictures, but it was 4 days of nothing (9 hours a day) for us.
