Nice hotel, but in the middle of nowhere. It was very windy out so not attractive to a walk on the beach. We tried the rooftop pool - not for swimming just chillin. Nearly go blown off the roof. Nice rooms, Food ok

+ve: Quite location, bit away from city and very homely ambiance. Beautiful sea shore nearby. Friendly staff and testy food of restaurant. Executive room with balcony was spacious and appreciate property cleanliness. Thanks to property for being flexible of letting us availing our complementary lunch as dinner as we checked in at evening. What do we love most of the property is the homely and quite environment.

-ve: Some sitting arrangement in spacious balcony is very much necessary. No 24 hrs of dine in facilities and even restaurant closed early. Though no doubt about breakfast quality, but limited option. Location not so convenient for traveler without own car as taxi not easily available.

We spent 2 nights at this hotel in Nov 2019. Service was excellent, the room was huge and clean, we had a side sea view, the pool was quiet, food was good, parking was plentiful, the hotel was exceptionally easy to find and the price of the room was great.
The hotel is not in Sur itself, but Sur is only a short drive over a causeway and could be seen from our bedroom.
This was a fantastic hotel to stay in whilst you explore nearby wadis and other sights.

Sur is a sleepy coastal town. We enjoyed a short overnight stay here very much. The Sur Grand is situation on a main road but it was not noisy at all. Our room was huge - massive king size bed and roomy bathroom with bath tub. It was a good opportunity to catch up on our washing - using a laundry around the corner (turnaround time only a couple of hours). We at lunch at the Sur Grand’s in house restaurant and it was very good. Likewise, breakfast was hearty and plentiful. A very clean, well run 4 star property on the outskirts of town. Staff very efficient and helpful.

Grand Sur

Things you will absolutely love...
+ Food tastes amazing. To my surprise, breakfast and dinner included in my rate. Breakfast buffet is plenty, and the food is fresh and tasty. One night there was a dinner buffet. It to was fantastic.
+ Staff are fantastic. Everyone was friendly and helpful.

Things you might not like depending on your preference.
+ Beds feel cheap and hard. Didn't get great sleep.
+ Must drive into the city center. Hotel is located in the outskirts.
+ Not a Beach hotel, despite advertisement. Several blocks from the beach. And the beach isn't the kind of Beach you hang out on.

Things you might hate...
The pool is a lie. There is an ice cool, large-jacuzzi-size tub of water on the roof, but it's unusable except for on a blazing hot day. The pool was totally misrepresented on the booking website.
+ Restaurant menu has photos of food that they don't sell. Manager says they're working on new menus, but have been since 2017.

All in all this is not a bad place to stay. But I choose it because it was "close to the beach" and "has a pool." Hotel failed on both of these.
