“Great stay”
Reviewed 21 November 2016 for a stay in October 2016

Loved Darsal. It was perfect for a family plus grandmother. Teenage kids were a bit squeezed into a two double bed set-up (to ensure grandmother was accommodated in a large ensuite) but we knew that in advance and they were fine. Very spacious and beautifully furnished accommodation. Excellent WiFi which was a must for the teenagers. Fantastic location in the Medina which is easy to navigate once you've got your bearings. There is an edge of town Carrefour, but we got all we needed in the great variety of stores in the Medina, as well as enjoying Aida's homecooked tagines on two occasions and, of course, eating out either in the Medina or along the beach front. Take-away crepes also proved popular. Breakfast on the rooftop was particularly memorable (we preferred doing our own breakfast). We were well looked after by Fouad who speaks excellent English and has a sixth sense as to what might be suitable excursions for guests. On one day trip out we took a tourist taxi and had a fantastic French-speaking guide. Thoroughly recommend Darsal - it's clearly a labour of love and not just a money-earner.

“A lovely step back in time”
Reviewed 7 February 2016 for a stay in January 2016

Staying at the Riad Darsal was made easy at the start by Sally who was always available to answer questions, and arrange for a trip to Marrakech with her on site guide Faoud.
On arrival, transport to the Riad went smoothly and Essaouira is a lovely smallish laidback town with a fantastic beach and medina full of character but easily accessible. Nowhere near the hassle factor of Fez and Marrakech.
Aiida made great breakfasts each morning and her tagines are to die for. The food everywhere tastes like it once did in Britain before mass production. The Riad itself had everything one needs for a great stay. The kettle stopped working and was replaced within hours. Faoud fixed up the trip to Marrakesh and his driver was safe and a nice guy.
The outside terrace is a lovely sunning site, and by March should also be good for outside breakfast too.
In summary a lovely Riad in a lovely town. Can't wait to return.

“Lovely house in a great location”
Reviewed 12 July 2015 for a stay in July 2015

This house is situated in the heart of the Medina just around the corner from some of the busy shopping areas, but very quiet (except for the occasional loud exchange of local news in the alley way outside and the sound of the waves if you sleep in the terrace bedroom). It's a beautiful house decorated and furnished in a style that fits the traditional architecture. When we were there we were very well looked after by the manager and the cook (who is an excellent cook if you decide to take up the option). Altogether have come back seriously relaxed.

“A wonderful spacious Riad”
Reviewed 22 January 2015 for a stay in December 2014

A wonderful place to stay. Lovely and spacious. Very close to the ramparts and the fishing port. The kids loved the roof terrace. Fuaad and Aieda were helpful.
