Spent two weeks here with a friend. We had a standard will close to the water villas.
The villa
The villa was very clean: its was cleaned every day with the sheets being changed every day. The furniture was quite basic but we really didn't anything. The mattress on the bed was hard so that was a bit uncomfortable.
The bathroom had an open air part. So its was pretty cool. But there were lizards, ants and small beetles in the bathroom which was unnerving.

The food.
We stayed on BB basis. The breakfast was quite basic. Lots of pastries, but limited choices of fruit. But they had eggs and omelette everyday cooked fresh in front of you and sometimes crepes/waffles.
As we were on a BB basis we ate out every night. The Moodhu bar was our favourite spot for dining. It had a good choice of foods: Mediterranean, Indian and grill.
We also enjoyed going to the grill and fish market.
The downside is that there is variety in styles the choices are quite limited and after a week it got a bit boring.
Also there is really no choice of fruit.

Evening entertaiment
Quite limited, had quizes on some nights. The prizes were sparkling wine, water sports voucher and picnic on a deserted island. We won the later and spend a morning on a tiny island 5-10 minutes away from the resort. I was fun and the island provided great opportunity for swimming.

Spa
The spa is just awesome. The girls at the spa are the best. I had the balinese massage and the shiahtzu. We basically went for a massage every other day. Before the massage you go the jacuzzi and sauna.

Reef
The reef was very alive with lots of fish and sometimes (if you're lucky) you can see a shark.
The fed the rays and sharks every day.
We did a snorkling excursion to the turtle reef. Instead of turtles we saw 5 sharks.

Swimming
For those who like to swim in quite shallow water this resort will not be fun. The are some limited spaces for swimming and the rest have coral which cut your feet very easily.

Travel
We took the sea plane to and from the resort. The flight time was 35 minutes to the resort and an hour back to the airport.

My wife and I had visited in Oct.2016 and had a wonderful time. Returning for 12 nights from30/4 to 12/5 this year we were a little anxious that the magic might not be there.
We needn’t have worried from the warm welcome of our arrival to the professional arrangements of our final departure Reethi Beach matched- no -exceeded our expectations.
Deluxe Villa :- Well appointed and beautifully maintained by our houseboy and friend Hassan. Nothing was too much trouble for this guy and I would like to recommend him for a staff award. We have travelled extensively in the Maldives and the East and the service provided by this young man is un matched!
Moodhu Restaurant:- Our favourite place in the world to eat and watch the beautiful fish swim by!
It was so nice at our first return visit to be remembered by Islam & Jaleel it made us feel so welcome!
As we were on Premium AI we tended to take all our meals here. Thanks to all the staff who looked after us so well, with special mention to Hassan a young man with undoubted management potential.
Reethi Grill:- Excellent food and attentive staff. Surf&Turf and Lobster Bisque sooo yummee!!

Main Bar:- Nice afternoon tea snacks and great cocktails prepared by Hanifa, who amazingly remembered after18 months that my wife drank Kir Royales.

I could write a book about why I love this Island- the well maintained grounds - the fantastic reef - the relaxing Spa massages- the romantic Saima restaurant.
In truth it is a tropical paradise made perfect by the lovely staff who make every effort to please.

My wife and I would return in a heartbeat.Lottery nos.permitting!

A great idea you would think. An island in the middle of the ocean. But be prepared to be isolated. You cant really get off. That said you shouldn't need to if you embrace the beauty and tranquility. My only complaint was on a half board basis you always incurred a charge for everything. Even the bottled water at dinner was $3.50 a bottle. Also $190 for snorkel hire for 6 days and they charged me $6 for a broken clip which was clearly weakened when we hired it. There was a cost at every turn. On the plus side the water villa was a lot cheaper than in most resorts we looked at and was very nice with steps down to the sea which was warm and beautiful. All in all it was a good experience but I would go all inclusive if I went again

Wow. We have just returned home from 9 nights at Reethi beach and we’re suffering serious withdrawals! All of the reviews are true, this place is paradise!

This was the first resort we looked at and for weeks after, while researching we still came back to Reethi beach.

Here’s some info on the things we really wanted to know about when booking:

Where to stay

We managed to get a great deal in an over water bungalow and I would definitely recommend. The bungalows are at the other end of the resort to the main bar and restaurant however, this means that you don’t have people walking by all the time and you’re not impacted by noise from events in the main bar. The cabins are very spacious and very private the deck is screened has deck chairs and umbrella and direct water access. Easy to take a quick dip and swim out to the reef- we saw a turtle on day one not far from our villa! The beach villas are right on the beach path and immediately adjoins other units so not a lot of privacy however they have a nice view. If you can definitely go for the over water. We faced east and managed to see some awesome sunrises, due to cloud cover we didn’t see any clear sunsets so this was a great bonus!

All inclusive package

We selected the all inclusive package, my initial hesitation with booking was that the all inclusive only included the buffet and not the restaurants. I was looking for a resort that included both options in the AI package as I was concerned about the variety of food on offer given we were staying 9 days. We decided to stick with AI and for the money we saved not paying for the premium package we figured we could still try the restaurants and save. We need not have worried. The buffet was excellent. Every meal of the day offered multiple options and every day had different offerings. The evening soup and lunch and dinner salads were delicious packed with flavour and paired perfectly with multiple meat and vegetable options. Every night we were there dinner had a different theme not once repeated and each better than the last! As someone who is not a fan of the buffet the amount of choice, variety and freshness of the food on offer was great. The staff are excellent and very accommodating for any dietary requirements.

Water activities

We took our own snorkel and fins and I would recommend doing so for the convenience and money you can save. We had oversized free diving fins and checked them with out luggage we weren’t charged any extra they travelled in the bag they came in and made it all the way from Australia! You can hire all the gear while you’re there if you don’t want the hassle. We did the turtle reef snorkel this is a 3 hour trip where you ferry out about 40mins to a reef and then hop in the water, we saw quite a few turtles was well worth the trip. We did quite a bit of diving and if you’ve already got your dive tickets its easy enough and relatively cheap to get tickets to dive to 30m and they offer night dives also. Great variety of dives for different skill sets and they have many instructors who speak different languages.

Transfer

Following confirmation of our booking Reethi arranged our transfers from Malé to the resort once we provided our flight details. Our flight did not arrive until 8pm thankfully Reethi was able to accomodate this late arrival and we caught the domestic flight and then a boat arriving around midnight. For the return trip I had requested if we could fly back on the sea plane as we were leaving early morning and wanted to enjoy the scenic experience. Unfortunately, when we arrived at the resort we were informed that we were booked on the domestic transfer and to change to the sea plane this would be $150USD each. On top of the $336USD we had already paid. We decided not to go with this option at the time, this meant that to make our 11am flight we left at 530am arriving 4 hours before our flight due to 1 hour time difference, had we taken the sea plane we likely could have left a little later and would have had an awesome view. Definitely query this before you confirm. We had great communication with Natascha before we booked she was very helpful and informative.

Weather in May

We had some great days where it was sunny all day long and over 30degrees with very high humidity. Other days was sunny most of the day and an afternoon shower. We only had 2 days where it rained most of the day this provided a good chance to relax and take a break from the sun!

Reethi beach is amazing and we enjoyed every minute of our stay here. It was relaxing, the staff were lovely and so accommodating and it was the perfect break. We can easily see why so many people in the reviews have stayed here on multiple occasions and if we can we would definitely like to visit again before their lease ends in 2020.

We had high hopes for this place. We booked our overwater bungalow well in advance. The island was beautiful, the food was great from all the eateries and the complementary romantic dinner for two was such a nice touch. We stayed there for 6 nights and we snorkelled from our balcony everyday. The weather was perfect and it was a perfect ending to our amazing adventure.

However there was a few small issue that prevented us from giving it 5 stars. Our bungalow was in the middle of the row of over water bungalows and the waves were quite noisy at night due to it coming in at an angle (corner of the beach) where two currents meet. It seems to be only ours and next door that was really affected. On our second day we were given a noticed from the resort in a form of a written letter that there will be renovations taking place next door to us for the remainder of our stay and therefore would be quite noisy and busy during this time. We were a little concerned as we were on our honeymoon and of course wanted an peace and privacy. We only have a short time on the island and didn't want to ruin this precious time. We tried to call them and talk to a few of the staff, no one really could provide us with a solution. We finally walked to reception and asked one the staff. They were unapologetic and asked if we wanted to move to another bungalow of the remainder of our stay. So we had to go back and quickly pack our things, the hotel staff said there will be staff coming to pick us up and transfer us at a certain time, but we waited an extra half an hour. This is our precious honeymoon time and we didn't want to spend a portion of this time, packing and unpacking our belongings. It was nice that there was some sort of solution with the other Bungalow which we later found was much quieter in terms of waves but that solution we thought was still something he had to request. We would have much preferred to have the one Bungalow from beginning to end. Given that we had notified the hotel with our intended stay as honeymoon with the booking well before we arrived, such matters should be taken into consideration when allocating rooms.

This was our only gripe with our stay.
