Currently elephant riding has been temporary stopped until further notice. Get up close and personal with the amazing semi-wild elephants at Kuala Gandah Elephant Sanctuary. We found this place by chance when looking for things to do in KL. I would recommend anyone staying in KL to make time to go to here. However, make sure you go as a volunteer and not as a tourist.

You can turn up here and look at the elephants and take part in the activities of course but by booking a day where we volunteer to work there, we spent every minute busy working with the staff and with the elephants.

If you are interested in having an experience like this, contact Zali you won’t regret it. (WhatsApp: +60 17 6162 105, email: jungletrekker69@gmail.com)

Zali was a brilliant guide, who told us what to do and explained everything we needed and wanted to know about the elephants. We spent time preparing their food, feeding them and washing them. We worked with both the baby elephants and adult elephants. There was 4 of us joined by another couple. It was a very enjoyable experience and one I certainly will never forget. A real highlight of our trip to Malaysia.

From KL we hired a car to get there but Zali can arrange transport for you too.

The whole day took place from 10.30am - 4pm including lunch. Contact Zali for prices and more information.

this is one opportunity to get up close and personal with the elephants, and learn about the conservation effort taken by the government.no entry fees charged, but please donate accordingly. we did not use a guide, but saw many groups of tourists guided by a guide. we bought some food to feed the elephant (sold at the place) and the kids had fun feeding them. check the time for the bathing of the elephant. we missed it as it was at 3pm, we were done by 1pm. the place is open everyday from 9am to 4.30pm.

It's great for family outing activity, it was a nice walk towards these elephants , baby elephants, enjoying the touch and feeding the elephants, the food can be purchased e.g banana and sugar cane which must be the elephants favorite food to munch. If come in the right time, is possible to bath these adorable elephants which look cool and fun experience.

What a amazing experience!! We hired a guide to fully appreciate the wonders of this incredible sanctuary. to be so close to these amazing animals and to actually get in the river and wash them is well... just do it and you will find out.. incredible You can also feed the elephants (couple of ringgit for sugar cane and peanuts) take a change of cloths and have a shower after washing the elephants and be warned very primitive shower ( they had a flood a while back and wiped out there shower block) Its about an 90minute drive from KL, not a lot of food options here (small shop only) AND PLEASE LEAVE A DONATION.!!!
