This hotel offered modern construction, was well maintained, located right on the picturesque bay, 1/2 mile away from a large commercial harbor, this is a big property with many rooms. Power is on around the clock, and rooms had air conditioners, which was a nice treat for us. Staff was attentive and spoke several languages. The bar/dining room overlooked the pretty bay. We had superb breakfasts – huge fresh-out-of-the-oven croissants on a platter of perfectly ripe fruit, eggs on request. Dinners were also well-prepared and menus had several options for French or Malagasy selections. The hotel is not near the downtown shopping and restaurant area, but we liked having that distance from the chaos and noise of the weekday city-center traffic. This pleasant visit was included in our tour by Linah at Authentic Madagascar Tours.

Room with water lapping at its feet most of the time. Stunning views, very friendly staff, wonderful romantic restaurant. Decor could do with being refreshed, but it was very comfortable and clean. Highly recommended.

I spent a delightful weekend at this hotel based on the Trip Advisor reviews. This time the reviews were spot on. This place was great. The location offered a fantastic view across the water. There is a great pool. The restaurant is excellent...really professional and friendly service...away from the main town but lots of easy transportation access. The value was unbelievable...at less than $50 per night. The rooms are great...satellite but not much variety for sports or English speakers, WIFI, generator that kicks in quickly...only downside is the WIFI...it was spotty and weak at best...but that is simply a country reality. In the context of Mada, this review is a bit generous...but based on where you are, this is as good as it is going to get.

Room Tip: Get a room overlooking the water.

Very nice hotel 5 minutes form the main shopping street in Diego Suarez. The grounds are beautiful, including the inground pool. The food at the restaurant was very good quality. The beds were comfortable, and there was plenty of hot water (not true for some other hotels in Madagascar). A quiet, relaxing place to stay in a beautiful garden setting.

Room Tip: The suites looking on to the bay are wonderful!

I found the accommodations in most cases to be of fairly good quality (and certainly value) throughout Madagascar. The Allamanda Hotel was one of the most modern and easiest to stay at with a very nice restaurant with a balcony overlooking the water, which was quite nice for an evening meal and breakfast. The room was clean and comfortable w/ A/C but did not have a safe. Wouldn't really walk to the city at night, but very easy and accessible by tuk tuk or taxi.
