There is a lot to like about this place. The tented rooms are spacious and luxurious, the food is very good and the pool is (normally) a nice place to relax after a dusty game drive. We also didn't mind the lack of mosquito nets as bug spray was provided and we didn't see any bugs in the tent (apart from ants). The staff were helpful and chatty.

There were also frequent visits from animals (elephants, baboons, monkeys) in or very near the camp. We were told that the camp floods in rainy season and that they are looking to move the whole camp half a mile upstream - hopefully the wildlife will follow.

We did have a couple of problems. Firstly, there were 8 sunbeds. This was fine on our second day, when there were 7 guests but not on our first when there were 30 guests. When we enquired, we were given a hard wooden chair with broken slats. Secondly, on the first day the kitchen and service staff (food here was a la carte rather than the usual buffet) were overwhelmed and lunch took almost two hours.

If these issues were ironed out, I would definitely give this 5 out of 5.

Great value for money. Beautiful camp with large tents abs private bathrooms. Only downside is the limited hot water times. Lovely staff, great restaurant which made sure they catered for us being vegan. Wild Elephants roaming right outside the tents but separated by a fence

Ashnil Samburu was our first stop to our 12-day journey to the Northern Frontier. The rooms are cozy and the staff are very warm and smart. It was a pity we could not spend much time to enjoy the serenity of this place but I should say, their food is delicious, the tents are clean and spacious and staff, once again are amazing. One of them has an amazing sense of humour.

I visited Samburu park last year. I choose Ashnil Samburu as the place to rest after a long game drive which was above expectations after sighting lioness, lions, cheetah, zebras and different bird species.

We were very impressed with the room, bed, shower, toilet and basins - but there was no mosquito net over the bed. Now, I know that the entire tent is basically behind netting against insects, but every time you go in or out of the door, in the dark, there is a risk of biting insects coming in as there is a light by the door.
They seem to have thought of everything else - even an umbrella and torch in each room but the construction seems to make the option of mosquito nets over beds impossible.

Food was buffet style and good.
