We were at Dolphin Port in the late afternoon on a weekday. It was not busy, but neither was Amu Plaza.
We spent most of our visit shopping at two stores situated to the left as you face the water. The first one specializes in edible gifts and souvenirs. The local specialties are the tiny mandarin oranges and a cold dessert that resembles a polar bear face. All the tour buses probably stop here because there are public restrooms inside. There is another shop further down selling souvenirs, local crafts, figurines and t-shirts featuring the cute male figure in a yakuta with the thick eyebrows.
Most of the restaurants on the second level were closed but you can get good views of the volcano. Elevators are situated by the main entrance in the center of the complex.
There is a free public footbath here. Bring your own towel.
Outdoors, be careful about what you touch and where you sit. The wind carries a lot of the ash that is frequently emitted by the volcano.
Public restrooms are also available on the ground level, on the far left of the complex as you face the water.
