Totally a fun way to spend a day. We went during the week, and though we didn't have reservations, we were able to join a group. First, the staff were awesome because we arrived when a group of mothers with their 20 rambuntciouts four year olds arrived, the offered to let us wait 40 minutes until a toour of "adults" was to commence. Second, as my mother does not speak Japanese, they offered a go-by book which translated the ENTIRE tour to help avoid any informative information presented during the tour.
At the end you can enjoy a tasting (complimentary) of three beers, including a stout which ROCKED the house (and I'm a hefenweitzen girl). My recommendation is to pace at one drink every 7 minutes since the taps "close" after 25 minutes. This will allow ample time to enjoy the three samples.
After, check out the restaurant which offers some yummy treats, and pick you favorite beer or try something else. Even the bathrooms are nice ;)

We, (2 adults 1 child 9yo) came here not knowing what to expect, and walked away very impressed.
We walked from the station and it was easy and we had no issues.
When we arrived the staff asked if we had booked, we hadn't, but it's good to know to get an English tour you need to book.
We waited about 15 minutes and then the tour started.
While we waited a lady with good English skills showed us around the displays and explained them to us. She showed us how to take our photo and had it printed on a cardboard money box. She also showed us how to take some fun pictures using their wall displays.

We were given some bound laminated a4 sheets of paper to read as we went on the tour so we could understand what was going on. The tour included hands on touching, smelling, tasting that even our son could participate in, some videos and what I describe as hands on learning. We were really impressed.
The tour concluded with tasting of alcoholic or non alcoholic beverages. They were thoroughly enjoyed.
Our son is heavily into robotics so this factory really appealed to him. He loved seeing the machines moving and the 'hands on' aspect of the tour held his interest throughout.
Highly recommend this tour.

We hadn't booked and it was a Sunday but we still got a tour of the beer factory. The tour was in Japanese but they gave us some brochures in English so we knew what was happening. Nothing was operating it was a Sunday. There were free beer samples at the end, provided you were over 20 and not driving or pregnant. A short walk from Namumagi Station. Best to go when operating and probably best for beer lovers

Come dressed in your best Samurai jersey!
Football fans (not me though) cannot miss the fact that Kirin is one of the major sponsors for the Japanese football team.

We were given an English guide who took us through the beer manufacture process at our own pace and a free sample of a can of Kirin. Preferred to drink the non-alcoholic version (Malted drink) because I can't take beer well but I trust most other people will find this a great place to visit.

Not sure if suitable for kids though.

Great tour that is educational and fun for everyone. I've never seen so many kids on a brewery tour before. The free tour is popular so book reservations to make sure you get a spot. You learn all about the process to make beer and at the end you have 20 minutes to try 3 beers or other nonalcoholic beverages that Kirin produces. Did I mention free?
