This accommodation is a traditional Japanese house in a Hida- Furukawa, which can be reached by train from Takayama in about 15 min. It is located in a quiet picturesque street. There's a watercourse in the street that has koi carp in them. The accommodation provides you with fish feed, so you can feed the koi which is really fun! The house has authentic features like an old fireplace and tatami rooms. Still the bathroom and kitchen are really new, so you have all the modern day conveniences. Breakfast (Japanese or Western) is delivered to your doorstep each morning, which is a great service. Also, the hosts are friendly and speak English fluently. So if you're looking to stay in an authentic, traditional place a little off the beaten track, his accommodation absolutely right for you!

We stayed at Iori Setogawa Dec 2017. This place located at hida takayama which is not far from takayama (about 15 min by train). It's a lovely small town and the house we stay is very beautiful and comfortable.

There are also good sake brewery near our location and we managed to get the 2017 limited edition yamazaki and the yamazaki 12 for good deal.

The host Shinji san is very helpful and I'll definitely stay at Iori again when visiting Takayama

So thrilled to have made the decision to book this beautiful little and 100 odd year property via Airbnb.

A warm welcome and friendly check in made for the ideal start.

I was taking through the accommodation, shown the key things along with some suggestions of places to eat in Takayama itself.

There are some very handy guides at your disposal for dining and sightseeing.
The hotel itself is beautifully traditional with modern touches.

There is a stunning outdoor onsen style bath and onsen bath powder is supplied. So relaxing.

Location is excellent - a few minutes walk from the Old Town, Takayama Jinya and around 15 minutes from the station.

Well worth a stay here

We stayed 4 nights at Iori Tenman, which is part of the same group as Iori Katahara. Our booking was via booking.com but it can also be booked via Airbnb. We absolutely loved our little home in Takayama. It is 5 minutes from the train and bus station, but we were still met at the station and driven to the house. The entrance was a pebbled room, like an indoor garden, complete with stone lantern. Inside it was tatami mats, sliding paper doors and very comfortable. We loved the tiny back garden with open air bath. The kitchen was hidden behind sliding doors and had everything we needed for the amount of cooking we did. Breakfast was delivered at about 7am each day and was laid out in beautiful bento boxes downstairs before we had even got up! All we had to do was heat the miso in the microwave. There is even a Nespresso machine for those who need a morning coffee. The fridge had complementary water, beer, juice and sake. A lovely place for a family to stay in this fabulous town. We didn’t want to leave.

We stayed three nights in this beautiful old Japanese house. We booked it on Airbnb. We are a family of four with two teenagers so needed extra space. This house is big with two sitting rooms one with a western style table and chairs and the other with a Japanese style. The kitchen was great with a modern bathroom and separate toilet. The house has a onset tub which we used a lot in the garden. There is a coffee machine which my husband loved. Upstairs we had two rooms with sleeping mats . The lady told us the house was very old I think she mentioned 500 years old.

The house is in an excellent quiet area a few minutes walk to Nakabashi Bridge( the red bridge). Very close to beautiful tourist streets in Takayama

Another plus for this property is that you get breakfast each morning in the restaurant two doors down. This run by an excellent gentleman who provides you with a tasty Japanese breakfast. You can also eat here for lunch and dinner if you want. We were always out alot so did not eat here. Although the set menus looked great.

In summary this is an excellent choice for a family or two couples with lots of space and everything you need for a great stay.

Some of the pictures attached are not of the house we stayed in . Check it out on Airbnb.
