We called in at the big five safari to enquire what was available. There were a number of options from walking with lions, cheetahs, elephant rides etc. We didn't have the time to engage with any of these activities but did choose to pay $10 each for a guide to take us around the lion and cheetah enclosures. I always have mixed views regarding the the enclosure of these kind of animals, however they did appear to be well looked after and in good condition. The quite was excellent and was happy to tell us about the animals and also was happy to actually take some pictures from inside the encloses.

We did the elephant ride and walking with the lions and cheetahs. How great was this to be up and close to these magnificent animals. They were well looked after and most were orphans. We chose this company based on the fact that the Zambian Tourist Board let them advertise on their website. Highly recommend to do this activity.

If you have ever wanted to pet a Cheetah, this is your place. This was so much fun. We got to pet a Cheetah and then go on a bush walk with them. Incredible. They have a Lion experience here as well. You can even ride Elephants. We loved the Cheetahs, though.

Let me start off by saying, YES, it is expensive but I think worth it as part of the conservation effort. I know some people say it's a very short time to pet and walk and yes it is, but it was well worth it. We did the combo Cheetah and Lion walk. The cheetahs are magnificent up close. We were with Lulu and Susan. Lulu's purr was VERY VERY VERY loud. They crew takes great pride and care of the making sure it is safe. You get to first pet the Cheetah and then walk it. Well, let me rephrase, the Cheetah walks you. Even though on a leash, they go where they want to go on the paths. Susan decide to go off course with my daughter and they just followed her. She later came back to the trail but had a bit of fun while doing it.

The lions on the other hand were a bit more temperamental and that was okay. We were with Mona and Myro. There was a point that Mona was done with photos and she got up and sat down on her own. This was okay by the handlers. She had enough and they let her. Though, they did encourage her to walk, and at times, it seems if she wanted to do her own thing. Myro was very cooperative and seemed to enjoy the attention.

It's an amazing experience to do. Though, it is NOT for small children. My daughter was 12 years old and just tall enough to do it. They will not let young children around the cats as they might run or be scared of them causing them to react.

It's a one time experience but well worth it. They give you a lot of information as well on the conservation and what they are trying to do with the animals.

Being able to walk and play with lions and cheetahs is just unbelievable. The cheetahs are so tame. Well worth doing!
