“Great apartment and location for a relaxing week”
Reviewed 31 October 2011 for a stay in October 2011

We stayed at 79 Sunbeam for a week in October. First of all and on an unrelated note, please note that the weather is unpredictable in October!!! 4 out of 7 days, it rained but apparently it hadn't rained since May so we were just really unlucky! We'd taken plenty of DVDs and to be honest, enjoyed spending a few quiet days together in this lovely apartment. There is a small TV and DVD player which we were grateful for. There aren't many DVDs or games there though so take your own if you're unsure what the weather's going to do!

Our first impression of the resort was a very good one. It's nestled in the side of the hill overlooking Kalkan's harbour and you're far enough to feel secluded but not too far to make going out difficult. We ate out every night (except one because of a thunderstorm!) and ate some lovely meals in town. The resort itself has a large pool at the bottom which overlooks the sunbathing platforms which get a nice breeze off the sea. The infinity pool at the top of the resort had been drained when we were there but the apartment is in a good position (right in the middle of the resort) to access both. The sea was also lovely at this time of year, really warm when you're in the sun was crystal clear.
Beware, there are lots of steps but there is a mini bus that runs every 15 minutes up and down the hills to save your legs! If you don't want to walk into town (20 mins walk) you can get a water taxi across the bay until around 6pm, or 7pm in the high season. Not a good resort for those with mobility problems as pretty much every apartment has steps leading up to it!

The apartment itself was well equipped and was very clean. We were a little surprised at the size as the pictures do make it look bigger than it actually is. It was brill for the two of us and we'd have been ok with children but I wouldn't say it's suitable for four adults - the bathroom in particular is very small and the door never seemed to shut properly!

The balcony is lovely and the views are gorgeous. The only downside for us was that the sun went down too early in October so we weren't able to sit out for longer!!

Absolutely not a negative, as the decor is neutral and very comfortable but when you see the decorations and ornaments on offer in the town, it would have been nice to see a few more traditional Turkish touches but I realise they may not be to everyone's taste!

The welcome pack, which was waiting for us on our first evening was a great touch. It was good to get some basics as the supermarkets in the town are poor and we struggled to get too much for lunch other than bread and some rubbery cheese! For very little more, you can eat out, which we did most days.

Overall, lovely apartment, very clean and comfortable and we would definitely recommend to other couples.

Just a quick note on the local area. Don't bother with Xanthos or Letoon, they were a real disappointment and really not worth the drive (and poorly signposted one at that!). We also tried Kas, the next town along the coast which is, in our opinion, a smaller version of Kalkan and is ok for an hour or so but we were a little disappointed after the half hour drive!

Thanks Karyn for a lovely stay.

We are pleased you enjoyed your stay and it was a shame that the weather was not kind to you. We are pleased that you were able to make use of the TV and DVD player. There are a few shops in town that sell the latest DVDs to keep everyone entertained. We now provide various board games and books. We accept that the bathroom is quite compact but we hope we have made the best of the space provided. The shower is large and the bathroom well equipped. A new bathroom door has been fitted as there was an issue with the original door closing. We are pleased that you enjoyed the new addition of the complimentary Welcome pack. This is particularly well received when people have a late arrival time at the property. We hope you will stay again in the future.

“beautiful location amazing view”
Reviewed 31 October 2011 for a stay in October 2011

My partner and i stayed at the Sunbeam apartment in Kalkan for 1 week at the end of october (the last week of the season).
The apartment was perfect for the two of us, there are two bedrooms, four people could stay here comfortably. The double bedroom is semi-open plan attached to the living room, but has large curtains to close off from living room space. The twin bedroom is a decent size room. The living room is a resonable size for 2-4 people, there is a small sofa bed, and arm chair, TV/DVD games and books, however i probably wont spend much time here, my partner and i found ourselves sitting out on the lovely balcony for breakfast, dinner and when having a drink admiring the amazing view over the coast and kalkan beautiful day and night. There is table chairs and a cosy sofa on the balcony.
The Kitchen was a good size and plently of utensils. They provided us with a welcome basket of food which was really appreciated as we arrived at the resort at 02:30, so we didnt have to worry about getting stuff for breakfast.
The bathroom is small but didnt bother us and the shower was really good.

I would not recommend the apartment or resort for any one who struggles with steep inclines or climbing stairs as the resort is built on the side of a steepish hill and there are quiet a few steps up the apartment and quiet a few to the bottom of the resort where the pool and sea is, however the resort does provide a shuttle bus up and down the resort.
the resort itself is very pretty, lovely lay out and well lanscaped with plants and trees.
There are several pools available on the resort however only the main pool was open due to us going at the end of season, only one bar and restaurant was open( there are several availabe in high season), we didnt eat at the restaurant we always ate in kalkan town, the restaurant looked nice though.
We found the supermarket at the top of the resort very expensive and recommend using the ones in town.
you can walk to kalkan from resort takes 15-20mins is nice to walk there for the evening and get a taxi back.
We had a wonderful time at the apartment, resort and in Kalkan is a lovelt town, and had perfect weather for the time of year.

Thank you for your comments. We are pleased you enjoyed your stay and liked the apartment. We think that most people spend the majority of their time on the terrace while at the apartment enjoying the stunning view. The new addition of soft seating, lamps and fairy lights has all added to our guests enjoyment. we hope you will return in the future.

“Brilliant Holiday. Fantastic Apartment, Wonderful Location - Affordable Paradise!”
Reviewed 4 September 2011 for a stay in August 2011

We have just returned from 11 days stay at 79 Sunbeam at Patara Prince Resort Kalkan with our two teenage sons aged 13 and 17.

Apartment : What made this apartment were the views from its terrace, stunning sunsets and views across the bay and over kalkan and harbour. At night the views were very pretty with Kalkan all lit up. The apartment was very clean and nicely furnished comfortable beds and plenty of seating on the terrace.

It was a lovely touch to have a 'Welcome Pack' with all the essentials we needed to start our holiday - thanks Karyn and Andrew. Whilst at the resort, we were looked after by Murat, who was able to answer any questions we had. He arranged all of our transfers, so that was nice not to have to worry about the trip back!

The air conditioning was very welcome having come back from a hard day in the sun!

On one occasion we had a takeout Pizza from Foto Pizza. They were excellent pizzas and recommend you give them a call. Delivery was very good and timely.

On other evenings we stayed in and cooked our own dinners, the apartment had adequate facilities for this and we dined on the terrace in candlelight - perfect.

Resort : Patara Prince is a very pretty resort with lots of steps and therefore not ideal for someone with walking difficulties. However, from the large family pool by the sea there is a lift which is a few steps away from the bus stop where the shuttle bus takes you around the resort and will stop wherever you want it to. They run every 10 mins, therefore no steps involved, only the ones needed to gain access to your apartment / villa!

We found the exercise very refreshing and only used the shuttle bus a couple of times.

There are 4 pools in the resort. The large family pool also has a children’s pool, shaded areas to sleep or sit, bars, toilet facilities and wifi. There is also an adult pool further along (over 16's only) and indoor pool near the spa. The fourth pool is at the top of the resort and is an infinity pool with a slide - here you can take in the stunning views across to Kalkan and the bay.

We were well looked after by Bhari at the poolside bar who kept us fed and watered all day long. It was a real advantage to be able to use the 25% discount card, as you sign for your bill and pay at the end of the holiday, therefore you don't have to carry cash around with you. Note I would recommend you keep all your receipts so that you can check the bill at the end of your stay as innocent mistakes can easily be made.

The whole of resort is perfectly maintained. It is very green, with beautiful plants and flowers that show off and hide the resort accommodation.

There is a small supermarket at the top of the resort, and although well stocked and very friendly, it can be more expensive, so we recommend the larger ones in Kalkan town. We took a walk into town (old Kalkan Road) on a couple of occasions and took a water taxi back, but not before stopping off at Ilyada Restaurant for one of their refreshing homemade lemonades - perfect!

Kalkan : Although the main income here is tourism the town is not spoilt and still has its character with cobbled side streets and harbour side restaurants.
The buzz is very welcoming and the Turkish are very accommodating. We recommend Salt and Pepper and Ilyada Restaurants, excellent food and great service. It is worth booking tables if you are planning on eating out, so you can reserve the seats with the views over the harbour.

From Kalkan there are many water sports from Jet skiing to banana boats (we felt that these were quite expensive - £30 for 15 mins). There are many boat trips to go on for example taking a boat to Mouse and Snake Island for the day, however we didn't have enough time to do this.

You can catch a water taxi to and from the resort, however the last boat is 7.30pm. Taxi's can be called from security and they arrive in minutes. They are all very accommodating and polite, although some of them are budding F1 drivers!

All in all, it was a fantastic holiday, with wonderful memories and urges to return as soon as possible in 2012.

Thank you Karyn and Andrew (and Murat)

“Absolutely Fantastic!”
Reviewed 13 August 2011 for a stay in August 2011

We have just returned from an amazing family holiday staying in 79 Sunbeam at the Patara Prince in Kalkan. We have three children aged 10, 7 and 4 years old. The apartment was immaculate, with new kitchen, and nice furniture. 79 has a beautiful large outside terrace with a table and chairs along with a large couch giving a breath taking view. We were greeted by Murat who looks after the property to ensure all was ok on arrival and were presented with a lovely welcome pack in our fridge! The resort is set within the mountain and very tastefully designed. Yes there are lots of steps so not for those with walking difficulties but there is a free shuttle bus that goes around resort constantly so you don't have to climb all the stairs if you did not want too. At the very top of the resort is the infinity swimming pool (wow what a view!!) with kids pool with a mini slide which was fantastic and our kids spent hours and hours playing. There was a well maintained tennis court which my son loved. At the bottom of the resort is a large swimming pool and has amazing sunbathing decks that you can dip into the sea and swim out to the platform. The resort has a fantastic spa and I had a super facial. It came to approx £20. I highly recommend the Spa. We found a taxi driver in the Old Town and we used him regularly to take us out and about. He was lovely and nothing was too much trouble. Patara Beach is an absolute must, one of the best beaches we have ever been to, completely unspoilt. There are no buildings at all around it as protected by the ancient ruins laws...You can hire sunbeds, umbrellas etc...at decent prices. Lovely little cafe on the beach, and given they are the only one there the food was super and reasonably priced. Not over hiking the price as no competition was very refreshing to see! There are showers, toilets and changing rooms. Sea is shallow for quite a while for children and lovely and warm. Eating in the harbour of Kalkan was just fantastic...you are spoilt for choice with all the beautiful restaurants. You can either choose a water front location (Trio, Coast and Aubergine were fab! very trendy and excellent value for money given the food and service you receive) or go into the lanes and choose a roof terrace restaurant, all the restaurants we went to were lovely. We found a fantastic bar called Yakamoz at the harbour who did fab kids cocktails (and a nice Cosmopolitan for us too!) Service was fantastic and it was a lovely safe pedestrianised area. The people of Kalkan are so friendly. Highlight of our holiday was going a private boat trip for all our family...just amazing...snorkling, mud bath and lunch (which was a fully cooked fantastic lunch). I would put this holiday in our top holiday destinations and will most definately be back to stay at 79 Sunbeam, that view and outside seating area watching the sun go down is too good not to come back to! Thank you 79 Sunbeam for an amazing holiday!

“Idealic for families and couples alike”
Reviewed 6 August 2011 for a stay in May 2011

First impression - Wow. What an absoutley adorable appartment. Very homely and finished to an extremley high standard. Plenty of room and made to feel like home from home with everything provided. Exceptionally clean on arrival andgreat care is obviously taken to ensure that guests are made to feel welcome. A wonderful terrace with stunning views of Kalkan and the bay. Wonderful to sit out in the evening with a glass of wine and watch the sun setting. Staff in the resort very helpful. Although there are plenty of steps in the resort there is a great little minibus/taxi type service that will take you from the top of the resort to the bottom in no time. Swimming pools were great with plenty of space around them for lounging in. Really good that they have an adult only are so that you can really escape from everything. Walking into Kalkan was an easy walk, even with a buggy, and took no time at all (although there are very good taxi's locally if you prefer). There are plenty of lovely restuarants in Kalkan but why eat out out every night when you can soak up the atmospher from the terrace with the wonderful views of the bay all lit up once dusk arrives.
