Ya Nui Beach

Rawai
Ya Nui is tucked away at the foot of a hill on the steep road between Nai Harn and Promthep Cape. We cycled there ... or rather, some of us cycled. The rest of us found the hills too challenging and pushed our bikes uphill in the searing heat. Reaching Ya Nui provided blessed relief. It is a very quiet, pretty place, undeveloped except for a roadside restaurant. There is an outcrop of rock jutting into the sea which is fun to climb, and the views are spectacular. I imagine in the summer it must be possible to swim or cycle out to the nearby island. Ya Nui was annihilated during the 2004 Tsunami and there are several memorials to the victims on the rocks above the beach. We found a moving poem online which was written by one of the survivors. It gave us pause for thought as we enjoyed a drink in the shady bar.

A lovely soft-sand beach for lazing, but not swimming as it is too rocky. It has a couple of cheap cafe/restaurants behind it but it's best to have your own transport there.

This small beach with rocky outcrop is a greats stop between Promthep Cape and Nai Harn beach. There are restaurants with Thai and western options and alcohol. The service is slow so don’t be in a hurry...they operate on island time. If you are a good swimmer and have the gear, take the time to snorkel around the rocky outcrop - about a 20 minute swim.

We came across this beach whilst biking around Rawai. It was a very beautiful and quiet little beach, big waves and warm water. Worth a visit.
