Don’t fall for the people saying free museum they will then show you pictures of dead bodies from the tsunami and tell you a story then try to get you to buy stuff saying it’s for survivors I asked them to show me how this money supports survivors and they couldn’t my wife is Thai. The grounds are not taken care of. At most it’s a five minute visit stop.

Emotional visit to the museum, donation to get in, lots of video, photos - right opposite a market worth a visit not open all days. Street food lush and very cheap.

A good selection of photos and stuff to buy to help local people impact by the Tsunami in 2004. Lost of pictures and the patrol boat left where it ended up. The whole place is free to look around.

There are a couple of different sections, one with films being shown of the events of Boxing day 2004, including a channel 4 documentary that I had seen before and information around the walls. There is another section that costs 300 bahts which we didn't have time to do unfortunately and there is a police boat which was pushed in land approximately half a mile during the tsunami. It's definitely worth a visit and wish we had, had a bit more time.
