We stayed in Songota for a night after our safari.
It was a little hard to get to (make sure you have a 4 wheel drive car/land cruiser), but it was well worth the trip.
The grounds are immaculate and beautiful. You have great cliff-side views, and can see the rapids. It is set up in a series of cute little “yurts” - with great bedding and good mosquito control. You have power and good cell reception. The towels are so soft, my wife thought they were blankets!
Ms. Joyce can cook! She also grows many of the fruits and vegetables on property. (Avocado trees — mmmm!)
Her family will transport you to Arusha, and both she and her family gives good advice.
The surrounding area has fun wildlife - monkeys and bush babies. Unfortunately, the trail to the falls was recently washed out - but instead of trying to make me go for a quick buck, they cared about my safety, and recommended I not go.
I’d totally recommend this lodge for those who are looking for a great lodge that is off the beaten path.More
