We are regulars at Jetwing and the Beach is one of our favourite getaways! My boyfriend proposed here two days ago and hats off to the staff - they really went out of their way! Especially our butler Pradeep. The food, service and everything overall is top notch and this is exactly why we keep coming back here. Thank you Pradeep and team.

Stayed only 1 night at Jetwing Beach after arriving in Sri Lanka. A lovely hotel on the beach with a large reception area. It has a buffet restaurant overlooking the beach and an excellent A la carte restaurant near reception. We ate breakfast at the buffet restaurant - good choice of food and beautiful setting. We had our evening meal at the A la carte - excellent menu and great service but a little pricey. The room was spacious and had a large balcony overlooking the beach. Although a little dated the room was well equipped with a large bathroom containing bath and shower. The A/C was a little noisy but effective. Complimentary tea / coffee / wifi and a room safe. We could have easily stayed 2 - 3 nights at this comfortable beachside hotel.

Room Tip: Rooms on higher floors quieter

We had an overnight stay here on arriving in Sri Lanka. Due to flight time we arrived at about 10am but there was no problem checking in early as our room was ready. We were shown to a seat and offered fresh fruit juice while we completed check in process which took no more than 10 mins. Our room was very clean and spacious with our balcony overlooking the pool area and beach beyond. We relaxed by the pool/beach. There were plenty sun beds and dedicated pool staff who supplied us with subbed cushions/pads and towels (free). There is a beach bar and anything we ordered was taken to us at our sun beds. There was a big buffet for dinner which looked great but we were not hungry, we did order cashew nuts expecting a small bag but were brought freshly roasted and seasoned cashews which were grown locally and delicious. We would highly recommend this hotel.

Had a 3 night stop over at this hotel and was very pleasantly surprised.

We had an efficient check in and was shown to our room. The room was very nice with a large balcony that got the sun in the evening. It was evident from the word go that the hotel is very eco friendly not only in the rooms but throughout the hotel!

People have mentioned the problems with crows. While we were there, the hotel were trying to reduce their presence and noise but it is a very difficult task and one evening there must have been 100 crows lined up at the edge of the pool taking a bath. No one swimming seemed at all bothered and even had fun splashing them to make them fly off.

The first day we were there we struggled to find a sun bed and on another day the two loungers next to us had towels on them all day with no one using them but the pool boys would not let anyone else use them.

Other people have mentioned the beach traders. The first day we were there we must have had 10 or more approach us while we were catching some rays and not all take no for an answer and some become very persistent and then make remarks in their own language at us. We decided the beach was not a place to relax and chose to sun bathe at the other side of the pool. This definitely needs managing by the hotel.

Animals.....have already mentioned the crows but the palm squirrels ( think that’s what they are) can also be a bit of a pest and ended up on tables pinching sugar but also trying to eat food from people’s plates.... most would go away if you shoo’d them but there were some that were very bold and wouldn’t.

Dogs have been mentioned in some reviews.....yes they were present but we only saw a couple in the dining area..... and please be aware the restaurant is outside and the dogs do not beg they mainly sleep so for us this was not an issue. Also this is a responsible programme the hotel is part of. Nearly every hotel we have visited has had cats so not sure what the problem with the occasional dog is.

Talking about the Sands restaurant this was where the hotel exceeded our expectations. We were on an all inclusive board so visited the restaurant 3 times a day. During our time there Thusantha looked after us very well and made us feel very special. Nothing was too much trouble for him and not only did he wait on our table but he engaged in interesting conversation too. He was just the type of person that you need in the hospitality sector and had a natural way with guests. Other staff were pleasant but they didn’t provide the same level of service as Thusantha did..... nothing was too much trouble! Thank you Thusantha for making our meal times special.

I don’t think we have eaten so much delicious food while on holiday so thank you to all the chefs behind the scenes.

We did find some of the female staff were surly and the male staff were much more friendly. It makes such a difference when staff naturally greet you as you pass.

Despite the couple of negative points we have raised we would definitely return to the hotel and recommend it to others.

There is one question we would like to ask management.......why is the bottle opener in the bathroom near the toilet.

With regard to the bottle opener kindly note it is a architectural setting and your concern will be shared with the Architect for his review. Thank you for your observation.

This was our first experience of a hotel in Sri Lanka and we were not disappointed. It was a quick trip from the airport and very conveniently sited for nearby restaurants, shops selling snacks and drinks, a a wine shop and even a place to change money. The hotel itself is very appealing and the staff were helpful and charming. All the rooms seem to have sea views although the corridors were a little stark outside the rooms. On our first night we had a delicious fish curry...courtesy of room service but the breakfast was a little confusing as it didn’t seem to flow. There does seem to be a problem with crows which would make relaxing by the pool less hazardous. Also the towel issue wasn’t very clear although once wee did find the appropriate staff they were very helpful.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for sharing your experience on TripAdvisor following your recent stay with us at Jetwing Beach in Negombo Sri Lanka.

We were delighted to read that you have been overall impressed with the room, the location and the delicious fish curry, however we have taken a note on the comment made on the breakfast service which will be addressed with the Chef. Your words of appreciation will not only motivate us, but will also inspire the entire team to continue to keep delivering the service standards we are known for in Jetwing hotels.

It is quite challenging to eradicate the presence of crows totally from the area but measures are taken to control their movement and minimize the inconvenience to our visitors.

It would be great having you back with us for a longer time on your next vacation to Sri Lanka.
