“Perfect peaceful location amongst the chaos of Central Ubud”
Reviewed 30 July 2016 for a stay in July 2016

We spent 8 glorious days here, I loved this house. I loved the 2 bamboo houses we had full use of,( views were incredible), the outside showers with the overhanging papaya trees, comfortable beds and the fact it was in walking distance from lots of delicious local vegan restaurants. Every day I walked to the local yoga Shala, intuitive flow, they had lots of great yoga classes to attend with incredible views of the rice fields and ate breakfast at the nearby yellow flower cafe over looking stunning views.... Heaven.
Central ubud is crazy busy, I recommend you avoid it , I walked there from the house but quickly wanted to return to the tranquility of Penestanan where the house is located. The weather can be cloudy and rainy in this area, it rained every day when we were there, which may have been bad luck, but we still loved every minute of our stay. There are amazing walks here around the rice fields and it's very easy to get taxi's.
The garden was to shady, which meant the pool was freezing cold, so we didn't swim.
Yudi the house manager was excellent, very friendly and efficient with any of our requests.

We are so happy that you enjoyed your stay and all that the Penestanan area has to offer. Yes, you hit an unusually wet rainy period ( the rainy season didn't happen when it's supposed to ) and that meant less sun on the pool to heat it up. We've taken your feedback on the shady garden ( we tried to create shade because the sun is sometimes too hot ) and we'll cut back the banana trees - it will make a big difference. Thank you. We hope to see you again

“Quirky, spacious villa out of the bustle of Ubud”
Reviewed 26 June 2016 for a stay in June 2016

Lovely helpful owner and staff. Quirky layout - lots of nooks and crannies to explore. Fab bamboo hangout area. Great pool to cool off in. Would have been tricky to find if we hadn't been picked up - we had friends that visited and found it tricky - but nothing else to complain about (aside from mossies, but that's life!). Very peaceful and pleasant.

2 bedrooms far enough away from each other to be private for 2 couples staying, but not so good for parents with younger kids as one bedroom is upstairs in a different building and the other downstairs near the pool. Both are lovely though.

Thanks very much for staying with us and the gracious way you treated our team. We really enjoyed looking after you. The mossies come and go depending on the rain ( and we had a lot of unusual rain fall this year ) and they're everywhere in Bali - even by the sea!

“Wonderful Retreat with great Hosts”
Reviewed 30 May 2016 for a stay in May 2016

The property and location were great! Everything was clean, in-working order and meet or exceeded the description. The house is in a smaller village next to the rice fields, but is walking distance to Ubud. The location made for a more intimate, local experience.

Everyone we encountered through the property was helpful and kind. The owner was great to work with, and even provided us recommendations for the next stop on our trip. Yudi helped us to plan our days, calling to arrange different outings and activities. Wayne made wonderful breakfast, with delicious fruit juice every day.

If we went back to Bali we would stay here again, but hopefully for a longer stay next time.

“The People Make The Experience”
Reviewed 25 April 2016 for a stay in April 2016

We stayed in the villa with three small kids (3,5,7) for one week. We would like to say great thank you to the manager IMade Yudhiana (Yudi), maid Wayan and our driver IWayan Arsa, who made the stay very smooth and pleasant. Yudi visited us every morning to see if the things are going well and if we need anything. All requests were fulfilled without any delay or problem and we truly felt most welcome. In addition I enjoyed talks with Yudi and Wayan Asra about Bali society and culture. Although we stayed also in excellent hotels (Tugu in Canggu and Intercontinental in Jimbaran), the personal contact with Balinese proud of their culture and heritage is something we got from our stay in the villa in Penestanan (small village next to Ubud where the villa is situated).

Just a small note to the travellers with small kids. The villa configuration was not the best for us. One room opens straight to the pool and another one is upstairs in the separate building. Two smallest kids wake up during night and come to our bed, it would have been dangerous with an open pool and stairs in the darkness. Therefore all five of us moved into one room upstairs. I guess this is not the only villa with such configuration and it did not cross our minds while we were looking for the villa. Bigger kids would probably enjoy the distance from their parents :)

Easy walking distance to Penestanan with small kids, Ubud is also walking distance, but for grown-ups. Penestanan has also many cafes and nice atmosphere with narrow walking lanes. Be prepared to enjoy countryside and forget city life. Birds and lizards are making noises, farmers are working on the rice fields from early morning.

Thank you for a lovely and fair review. We so much enjoyed opening up the 'real Bali' for you to discover such as your dawn hike up Mount Agung! Respect! We only employ people from the village who take enormous pride in their culture and local traditions and they love to share that with their guests and it's great when that's acknowledged as the real benefit of staying in private houses.
The villa is really configured for 2 couples or a couple with older children. For smaller children it would mean a foam on the floor or sleeping with the parents. Thanks once again for your visit - the team

“Perfect house in Ubud, but away from Ubud's buzzle”
Reviewed 25 April 2016 for a stay in April 2016

We (2 adults and 2 kids aged 6y & 10y) all loved the house.

We especially enjoyed Judi’s (the house manager) support. Due to his kindness and expertise we had many occasions to explore the wonderful Balinese ceremonies. His uncle was our driver (and guide) and can also be recommended.

Compared to the other places we stayed at Bali the house was very well maintained and very clean. Wayan (the housemaid) does a very good job.

This rental was the perfect choice for us, thus: THUMBS UP!
