Owner description: Puri Saren Agung is the place where Ubud's long tradition of home stays all began, more than 80 years ago, when Bali first started to attract bohemian artists from around the world. Renting one of five traditional stone bungalows in the sumptuous royal courtyard is still quite an experience, and every night the palace comes alive with the sound of Gamelan music as Balinese dances are performed just across the wall from Puri Saren Agung.

If you visit this place, there is a small passage on the left side to go behind, to some small gardens with narrow passages to see amazing orchids and other flowers. Loved it! I would also really recommend our driver Marta (+62 821 4425 2626) who took us there (and many other places). He is really nice and easy guy, very polite and does his work honestly. Advised and took us to a local market to to get stuff way cheaper than in touristic places. Easy to engage in conversations and to know more about real Bali.

Beautiful palace in Ubud. We were staying in Ubud so it was a short walk from our accommodation and free entry. Love the detail of the stone and wood carvings. Will pop back in the evening for the dancing if we get chance. Tickets are advertised at 100k IDR at the moment. Some information around the site could have improved our visit. Worth visiting if you are in the area or stopping as you pass through.

The palace itself is very small without much to see really. However, on a Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday night, the palace plays host to different cultural shows. I watched the Legong dance which started at 7:30pm until 9pm on a Monday night for 100k pp. It showcased a range of different Balinese dances, which were interesting to see. There is also a huge art market very close by which is open during the day, as well as many great restaurants in the area.

The choice of temples is endless on the island! There are thousands of Balinese temples to choose from. This one in downtown Ubud has an excellent Chinese restaurant right next door.

It is not a Palace and not big.
A bit crowded and nothing special.
You may have a look as tickets is not needed and it is near Ubud Market
