My wife and I stayed for a week at this lovely villa which is a short walk away from Jl Tamblingan, the main street in the seaside village of Sanur. It has all the amenities needed for a self contained holiday where you could relax comfortably.
It's perfect for a couple to enjoy either cooling off in the pool after a hard days shopping or sitting in the shade of the outside patio sipping pre dinner Bintangs!
The villa is approached through the typically ornate Balinese wooden double front doors opening up into the glorious tropical garden view. The small pool which is adjacent, is inviting with two fountains on the side wall cascading into it. At the time of our stay the garden was full of colour with the red and yellow Lobster Claws a particular favorite.
Inside the villa there is a good size room containing a large queensize bed, plenty of wardrobe and storage space. The a/c is excellent along with ceiling fan to keep you cool when you're inside and the wall mirror is perfect for checking out all your new fashion purchases. There is a wall mount TV where you can watch a plethora of cable channels and even AFL games via the Aus channel! There is also the essential wifi and a small safe to keep your valuables secure.
The ensuite is sufficient with a large shower, basin with large mirror, toilet and a large wall fan that circulates the much needed cool air.
Out in the ceramic tiled patio area is a functional kitchen with gas burners, cupboards full of pots, pans, plates etc a good fridge and a water cooler. There is no microwave and this would have been a good addition to round out the facilities. There is a large round glass top table with dining chairs & two very comfy recliners where you watch the Geckos come out to play when the sun goes down. There are even towel racks to hang wet towels on after a refreshing dip in the pool.
The villa is managed by the very friendly manager Mita. If you have any issues at all shes the one who can look after them for you. Very fluent in English and a really lovely person with a heart of gold. The housemaid Kadek will keep the villa in tiptop shape and even her hubby is a dab handyman if ever needed!
A few houses down towards the main street of Sanur lives Yuda who will organise drivers, either his charming son Oka or the very proficient Wayan to take you on your excursions. If you're lucky enough to be invited to breakfast, banana fritters cooked perfectly by his masterchef wife Made, grab this opportunity. You'll be entertained by this family with tales of Balinese culture and wisdom!!
Also very close is a laundry if ever required where your clothes will be returned professionally folded and smelling like sweet frangiapani. Also nearby is a massage & beauty shop. During one massage session I felt myself drifting off to sleep a couple of times it was almost hypnotic and highly recommended after a long day in the sun.
Overall it was a great stay and would love to do it again if ever we're back in Sanur. Thanks to Ida who handled the booking and admin so proficiently always keeping in touch with updates for us its as if we had to do absolutely nothing except to relax and enjoy our break, which is exactly what we did. Perfect
We just had a beautiful stay here for a week. Gas ran out - no problem...fixed within 1/2 hour. Mita the Manager is wonderful. A huge thank you for the surprise birthday cake. Wow! Internet down for a couple of days...Mita organised it to be fixed asap. This also prevented the TV from working. Pool was fantastic, air con & fans a true delight! Love love loved it...except for the small street down to the main st was dug up which made it extremely awkward to walk down - but that wasn't their fault. The villa itself is perfect. They even had nice towels! We even got to have breakfast with the neighbours at their house! It was awesome. No problem with shower...hot water every time. I wish I was still there!
Loved our stay at Rumah Gembira. Close to the Main Street for a taxi or bemo to north or south. Loved the privacy and space to spread out. The kitchen was very workable. Especially loved the pool as it had a hand rail for easy access.
Yes it’s on a corner and everyone toots their horn but it’s easy to tune it out and didn’t hear anything at night
Will we go again YES
My husband and I have just returned from a wonderful two week stay at Rumah Gembira. The location was fantastic- in a side street off the main drag surrounded by other villas and very nice homes. We felt very safe there and enjoyed getting to know some of our neighbours. It was a short walk to restaurants, Hardys and the beach. The villa was so well set up and the amenities supplied were terrific, right down to sunscreen, magazines, books and hand sanitiser. We loved the outdoor kitchen and this was a great place to sit in the comfortable arm chairs and relax whilst looking at the lush garden and pool. The bedroom was very large with plenty of storage and the bed was very comfortable. Our dealings with Mita the manager, the cleaner, driver and pool guy were very cordial and they were only too pleased to do anything they could to make our stay a very pleasant one. I can recommend Yuda and his son Oka for any tours or transportation that you might need. Yuda lives a few doors before "Happy House" and both him and his son spoke very good English. We have been coming to Bali for 38 years and i really believe this is the best accomodation we have ever had so we thoroughly recommend this villa.
This villa was perfect for my husband and I on our recent stay in Sanur.
The street it’s on is well known by all taxi drivers, and the noise of tooting horns people complain about is barely audible over the high walls. If you think it will bother you, bring ear plugs!
The pool is cool, almost cold, great for a chill down on a humid day!
So close to restaurants, beachwalk, and a reliable money changer.
The owners live behind the gates within the grounds, but not within the villas walls, so there’s the perfect amount of safety and privacy!
The only faults we had were the DVD player is faulty and the showers hot water only lasts a few minutes. We dealt with both of these by spending time outside outlet villa, enjoying Sanur, and taking quick showers!!!
It was perfect!
