Govindam is a fabulous home stay which is in the city of Udaipur but still not in the city. It is just outside on the banks of the River Sisarma in completely rural setting. it is Just about 10 minutes away from the city centre. We made the booking through a direct telephone call to Mr Jhala. He can be contacted on his mobile phone +91 94141 73437.
The property is owned by Mr Chandrashekher Singh Jhala who is a retired high ranked central govt officer. What a beautiful property they have made.It has a large1 Bed room, a living room, a kitchen with facility to cook oneself all AC, a sit out over looking the wonderfully manicured garden. The home stay also has a room with bed and bath for the Driver in case you are driving down. 4 persons can stay comfortably at the property. Food can also be provided in house on advance notice which we did not know so we were eating out.
There are 2 dogs Romeo and Goofy on the property. Romeo takes about an hour to get used to and is very friendly after that.Goofy is a bit aggressive so he is kept away most of the time. There is also a Turtle that keeps roaming around the place. The property has lots of green trees like Banana, Pomegranate, Chickoo, Starfruit, Lemon etc lots of flowers Hibiscus, rose etc,
We stayed there for 5 nights and i must say we had a wonderful time. I must make a special mention of the Care taker Mr Mahendra singh and his assistant Mr. Laloo for their excellent service and very courteous care. We will certainly go back there on our next Udaipur visit. Hope this helps.
The hospitality of Mr. and Mrs. Zala is the unbeatable. They are very warm and friendly and will make you feel at home instantly. Govindam offers lovely location away from city. We had perfect peaceful time at Govindam. Special thanks to Mr. Mahendra for taking care of us and being there for our every little need (he would pop up like genie the moment you call him).

We stayed 3 nights at Govindam, a most pleasurable homestay, that provides the comfort of ones own home along with all modern creature comforts. A lot of space and beautuful mannicured lawns provided the running-around area for our two year old. Nearest shops / restaurants being a small drive away, indoor meals and supplies need some advance planning. Special call out to Mahinder, for being helpful with a smile; and the hosts, Mr and Mrs Jhala, who with minute care and warm hospitality, had made our stay a very special one!
