Booking safari in advance is a must. Zones 3 n 4 are best for sighting tigers.
Winter morning safari is very chilling! Wear adequate woollens.
Gypsy is best as canters are noisy with too many ppl..
Zone 1 to 6 have better chance to sight a Tiger. However there is no guarantee where one can sight a tiger. We went in the forest twice in zone 2 and 6 but could not sight a Tiger. My friend went a third time and saw the Tigress Arrow head in zone 4. So It's all luck. However the experience of going into a forest is amazing. One can easily see lots of Deers, Antelope and few other animals.
I really don't think I need to add much about this world famous park. The only few words I wish to say are
1) definitely prebook your safari tickets online
2) please don't be fixed on the idea of seeing the tiger. Look around and there are lots of beautiful animals, birds and trees too
3) the reason I wrote this is because I really think the obsession of visitors to see the tiger means that drivers and guides keep chasing the great cat like crazy. Often this means you don't get to look around much while the vehicle you are in keeps flying from one point to another
4) definitely select a gypsy if possible but, Cantors are great too
5) all zones from 2-5 are great for seeing the tiger. Remember the zones have been created by us not the tigers. So the tiger someone saw in zone 3 in the morning may be in zone 4 by evening!
It is a beautiful forest. Do enjoy your time. Great if you get to see the tiger but, trust me even if you don't, it is still a wonderful experience
Tiger spotting ofcourse..the entire ecosystem so well preserved. Try and avoid canter visit into the safari.. ruthless tourists in them
Saw lots of wild animals and two tigers at a very close proximity. Take a jeep safari for a better view. It cost approximately Rs 1600 per head. It's a dry forest so don't expect thick lush greenery.
