We had good time at Raviz. Green, clean, quite, peaceful and situated at the best location near River. This was my second visit to resort. The ambience is incredible. Cottages are too Good. Staff is affectionate, caring and at your service 24 by 7. The spa is very relaxing. It's bit expensive but good place to stay. Thank you Raviz Group to make it so memorable for me and for my family. Special thank to Front Office Manager Mr.Jayakumar.

We stayed one night at Raviz , Kadavu. When we checked in we were impressed with the ambience, but when we got to our room - this changed a bit. The lamps at the entrance had failed and I almost fell down the stairs. We reported the matter to the house keeping and after a lot of follow up they replaced the lamps.
The breakfast was decent and the general cleanliness and ambience was good.
The walkways around the property offered good views of the river .
On the whole a good property to stay at while at Calicut

We booked at Raviz (2+2 kids) on way back from Wayanad because of the resort like location and expected resort like activities.

Pros
Good location, overseeing the river. Though river view is constrained because of trees.
Nice pool
Friendly staff in restaurant
Decent restaurant menu though biased towards south indian cuisine
Decent rooms
Efficient check in and check out
Spa is good
Houseboat ride - but it was not available during our stay, because of strong currents

Cons
It is not a resort and ambiance is more of a business hotel
No activities for kids/no indoor games
We saw evidence of maintenance needs

Overall:
As a star business hotel, it tries hard to be a 5-star but I dont think it rates more than 3.5-Star, given the overall facilities and ambiance
As a resort, it doesnt live up to the expectations, apart from the location, houseboat and spa, nothing else qualifies it for a resort status.
Probably OK for a transit stay

After almost 6 months of research and great reviews we chose the Raviz Kadavu for our special visit to Calicut. We visited in the start of the monsoon. The lobby and welcome was lovely but what really made our stay miserable was that the hotels lacked staff that were passionate hoteliers.

While 3 receptionists sat at their front desk with the lobby devoid of guests not one was able to tell us how far the train station was from the hotel. Nor were they interested in booking a taxi for us there.We were diverted to the travel desk which was unattended just 5 meters away.

The hotel decided to close 2 of its 3 restaurants and didn’t bother to let’s us know that when we booked this resort. The Kerleyam was the only outlet open , we were given a limited menu to order from and were charged full buffet prices for lunch. Service and efficiency were non exsistant. The hosts at the venue stared blankly and ignored you while they smiled walked past you several times with no intentions to take your order. On the second night they turned us away for dinner because they had 30 guests for Eid celebrations the only option was to order room service or eat well after 9pm. Perhaps the hotel was going to offer us leftovers from the function At full buffet prices. Breakfast service seemed to complex to organise between the 8 staff member ideally “working” took a lot of time and convincing to get two serves of eggs....

That hotel souvenir shops it’s closed...but those receptionist insist it’s not open “today” so check back tomorrow perhaps our luck will change?

We were given a deluxe river view room as a “complimentary” upgrade on arrival great gesture but it came with complimentary construction noise and loud jack hammering all through the night, when we asked the housekeeper who delivered our laundry ( another terrible experience) we were asked to ask front desk because he didn’t know.. really?

On checkout we paid cash and it took all 3 receptionists to count the cash.. and when we asked for a receipt we were offered a signature from the staff that payment had been made how is this professional or a garuntee of any kind? We asked for a printed statement which was too hard for any of the 3 staff to help.... we even passed on our feedback to the staff and asked for the GM’s card but were told they didn’t have any and to contact the front office manager the next morning..I’d had more than enough by then good thing we didn’t stay any longer.

There is nothing luxury or 5 star about this hotel when it comes to service and care here we left extremely disappointed.
Ps: notice how all responses to negative feedback for this hotel is the same standard response ? That’s not 5 star either.

Service is very very slow. We need to call 2-3 times for everything. Lack of of periodic maintenance .We value the location and view to the river, its excellent. The front desk staffs are very friendly.

Room Tip: Bathroom requires maintenance.
