Owner description: Georgia O'Keeffe (1887-1986) bought her house in Abiquiu in 1945, which is now owned by the Museum. The 5,000-square-foot Spanish Colonial-era Abiquiu compound was in ruins in 1945, and for the next four years, O’Keeffe supervised its restoration, which was carried out by her friend, Maria Chabot. She moved from New York to make New Mexico her permanent home in 1949, and lived either at the Abiquiu or Ghost Ranch houses until 1984, when she moved to Santa Fe. Georgia O’Keeffe’s Home and Studio is located in the village of Abiquiu, 60 miles northwest of Santa Fe. The home is open to the public for tours seasonally between mid-March and mid-November, and reservations are required. Ticket bookings on the Georgia O'Keeffe Museum website.

The place where Georgia O'Keeffe created some of the masterpieces in the last decades of her life si very impressive. Her studio overloking the desert and the high mountains in the background is full of light. She lived a modest, almost austere life in this very special place.

Great views with this interesting house. The gardens are very interesting. She lived in a very simple lifestyle.

Fantastic selection of the artist work. Very well done documentary with her testimony available for viewing in the museum. I really recommend it.

This tour is an absolute must for O'Keefephiles and fans of interior design. The welcome center was very modern and comfortable and the tour guide was-PHENOMENAL. Every bit of information she provided enhanced the tour immensely. Unfortunately, I didn't catch her name. While photos were only permitted outside of the home, I didn't feel rushed at all to see the interior as the people in my group were very respectful as far as taking turns to see things up close.

If you are a fan of minimalist and midcentury modern design, you will die. Georgia O'Keefe oozed style and class. There were several Eero Saarinen and Eames pieces. There was even an original Eames chair that the designer personally inscribed for O'Keefe! It was an interior design dream! One woman on the tour said it was her 3rd tour to date--I hope to beat her record. Seriously, I can't wait to come back!

The Museum is stunning - showcasing the work of one of America's most loved artists! It was so well curated, the architecture of the building was so peaceful and calming, much like the artists work. A must see on your trip to Santa Fe!
