Reviewed 30 April 2017

I was booked in here by Air Timor after their flight to Singapore on 29 April was cancelled. (We had previously lined up for half an hour at the Novo Tourismo Hotel, only to be told they had no rooms left - but that's another story.)

The location of the hotel is particularly poor. It's in an industrial/commercial/poorer residential area, with few convenient shops nearby, and nothing much worth seeing within walking distance. In fact, the driver from the Novo Tourismo who took us there missed the turnoff and had to drive about another kilometre to get back to the right place.

The Ramelau appears to be the sort of mid-range hotel which was springing up around Asia in the mid 1990s, with a big lobby and chandelier. The room I was in, number 301, had no towels, and I had to chase them up. It was large, to the point of needing two airconditioners. Its main defect, a fatal one from my point of view, was that the curtains didn't block out the light from the courtyard outside. The were hung about 6 inches off the wall, and were so ineffective that I could almost have read a book with the lights in the room switched off. The bed wasn't very comfortable, and it's not so easy to sleep with a pillow over your face to block out the light.

I saw one cockroach in the bathroom, but it wasn't very big (the cockroach, I mean).

I received at 6.15am a wakeup call from reception which I hadn't requested. Maybe someone else missed out on his or hers.

The staff were friendly and tried to be helpful, but there's only so much they can do when the basic product is defective.

The only thing about the Ramelau which was really any good was the disposable razor.

There's no way known I would stay there again.

Room Tip: Go to a different hotel.

Hotel restaurant is ok. The taste is quite plain. Hotel has swimming pool. Light in the room is fine. Air condition is quite cold and difficult to increase temperature. It takes 10-15 minutes walk to supermarket. It takes 30-40 minutes walk to the sea. The beach is very short. The hotel is not provided hair dryer and safety box. At night time my room has bad smell from toilet draining.

Room Tip: The room that can see swimming pool is such a good view for this hotel

I have stayed two nights in suite room in this August. Price is reasonable, and cozy place. Location is also good to reach to Timor Plaza. The best thing is the swimming pool. Water was clean and pool size also fit for me. All staffs are very kind. I had a very good time in there.

It was a great time to stay in the central Dili.
Kind staff, clean room, international menu of meal as well as korean cuisine and a wide swimming pool!
And i was satisfied with WIFI was quiet fast to watch YouTube if you know other places don't provide even wifi.

Of course its the cloest hotel to the only multiplex mall in Timor.

There's only two Hotels in Timor that you can call half descent. This is one. The rooms are OK. The food is terrible. You'll need a car or be willing to walk to Timor Plaza for a feed, supplies, etc. DON'T DRINK THE WATER
