This was third visit to Abidjan on business and my second visit to this special, discreet and authentic Italian restaurant. Our group of 9 works colleagues met up here after work, parked directly outside the restaurant and made our way down the covered alleyway to the guarded entrance. Inside you are kind of transported into a little part of Italy. We were early guests and were immediately seated at our table. Of course I just had to have an Aperol Spritze to start the evening. I followed this with an excellent octopus salad as a starter and went for crab risotto for the main course. Excellent! I wasn't planning to have a dessert but ended up succumbing to the fruit pavlova and sharing my host's excellent profiteroles.
I'm not sure what white wine we drank with our meal but it was chosen with the help of the owner (?) who gave intimate, expert advice on all requests for help in choosing the food and wine.
This is quite an exclusive establishment and many diners who turned up later seemed to be already well known by the owner. There were a lot of service staff given the size of this boutique type restaurant and the service was all carried out very seriously and correct.
For that special Italian evening I'm pretty sure that you can't get much better in this town.
