Owner description: New Jersey's tallest lighthouse awaits you at Pacific and Rhode Island Avenues in Atlantic City (walking distance from Showboat Casino). Take an amazing journey into time and above it all as you ascend the 228 steps of the Absecon Lighthouse, one of the oldest lighthouses in the country. You'll see breathtaking views of the Atlantic City skyline and up top you'll come face-to-face with the original first-order Fresnel Lens, first lit in 1857.The lighthouse's recent multi-million dollar restoration also includes a stunning replica of the Lightkeeper's dwelling, an educational museum, charming gift shop, Fresnel Lens exhibit in the original Oil House and expansive grounds. The Absecon Lighthouse is on both the New Jersey and National Registries of Historic Places.

Well worth the block or so "side trip" off the Boardwalk. Staff was very friendly and knowledgeable and readily answered all our "tourist questions". Gift area was neat and well stocked. We did not climb to the top. Very foggy and misting rain.

My husband and I went today and what a wonderful choice. Milton was our guide and he gave us fascinating information about it. Its 225 stairs to the top, and its worth every single step. The view is incredible and the history is fascinating. I would go back in a heart beat and plan on it the next time I'm in town.

I visited here for the Lighthouse Challenge in 2018 and got to climb at night. Well staffed to keep the traffic on the stairs and at the top manageable. Reasonable cost to climb. Great views of the city with all the lights. Nighttime is THE time to climb.

Went here with my nephew as an alternative to the the gambling casinos, arcades and the rides along the boardwalk! What a nice little find! Catch the small "trolley"/bus and ride down to the very site of this lighthouse. Take the walk up the steps, take in the views and the small grounds as a reprieve from the flashing lights and constant hub bub of the casinos, arcades, rides and games of the boardwalk! And, once your sanity has been regained, catch the same trolley/bus back to the boardwalk and commence to win some money! Good luck!

The lighthouse has free parking and the grounds and museum are free to visit. If you want to take the 228 step climb to the top of the lighthouse (and, of course, another 228 down), there is a small fee for that. There is a gift shop in the museum. The staff of one in the museum was friendly and helpful.
