This house is amazing! It is decorated with very good taste, like a Robinson Crusoe luxury cabin with fantastic jungle & ocean views. It is very well equipped, it has everything you need, comfortable beds, fans & airco, modern & big bathrooms, many books, plenty of cozy corners, hammocks & seats where to indulge yourself, and a beautiful terrace with stunning views. It is a stand-alone house, surrounded by nature, very quiet and private but at the same time quite close to the shops & best beaches (although you will need to foresee transport if you plan to move around, it is not really walking distance). I had the impression it is one of the nicest places you can stay in the island. The island of Providencia is so beautiful and authentic. It is quite small but there is plenty to do and discover! We stayed 5 nights with my family (3 kids) and it felt 2/3 days too short. We are very happy we decided to go to Providencia, it is quite expensive to get there and prices in the island are not cheap (everything has to be delivered by boat!), but it is absolutely worth it. We loved the beaches, the scuba, driving around the whole island in the "mula", the many colours of the sea, the nature, the sunsets, the feeling of being so far from everything, hearing the "creole" language and last but not least, the friendliness of the local people. Adriana, the host, is extremely helpful, very reactive and is always available for questions/advice. She will provide you great tips and transmit you her love for the island. Follow her advice, she has very good taste!
This home and the island took me back to the old Caribbean, where time flows freely, folks are friendly, the architecture is quaint, the reef spectacular, the seafood fresh, the forest intact, and the sunsets can be enjoyed with great local music. This home (it is not just a house), is well located, far enough from the town (Sweet Water Bay) to be tranquil, but close enough to walk or bike to from town or a few of the beaches. The view over the trees to the ocean is like being in a treehouse, and you can walk down 10 minutes to a rocky cove where you can swim close by in clear blue water to 2 very small beaches. Beautiful wood and stone give the place a harmonious feel with the forest, and the aircon and fans keep you cool if you need it. I mostly just used the outdoor shower on the deck, but the bathrooms are fine. Clean and functional, the house has everything you need. No wifi, but that was a blessing (free wifi can be had in Sweet Water). The best part though was Adriana´s constant monitoring from afar of our comfort and pleasure, and the two cheerful ladies that cleaned and cooked and coordinated everything for us, Jove and Ligia. Both speak English and Spanish with a lovely creole accent, and saved the day more than once. All we had to do was decide which beach to hit or outing to take, what seafood to eat, and what groceries to buy, or when to get a massage. We rented a Mula for 4, and found it very practical. We want to go back asap!
