Have now been in Cali for 4 months and have tried most, if not all, of the so-called best restaurants. In addition, I am a big TripAdvisor fan, but totally aware that everyone's opinion is different.
We visited Tizones on a Tuesday evening at 8:00 pm. I was immediately worried when on arrival, all the waiters were sitting down playing on their phones. That should have told me something!
Regardless, as we were there, and there were many excellent reviews, we decided to go for it!
We began by sharing a very costly ceviche ($36,000), that was over loaded with onions and lime juice? We then went for the special (strongly encouraged by the waiter) of steak and langostines priced at a whopping $68,000 per person! For drinks, we had a jug of white sangria at $80,000. The most expensive sangria in Cali!!!
The total bill including tip of $24,000 was $280,000! Our most expensive meal by a long way in Cali.
The special was just okay. It was nothing special. The langostines were of a good size and wrapped in bacon. It was just an average meal.
As you can see, we went for it, and was not worried about cost, based on the reviews. However, I am adamant that the food is not worth the prices they charge, hence my title of this review.
I hate to plug other restaurants, but we only went to this restaurant, because our first choice was full up!!! Yes, full up on a Tuesday night!
I know that I should have read more into the situation on arrival, but as I mentioned, I wanted to try it out, for myself.
I hope for the owners sake, that this restaurant bustles on Friday and Saturday night, as I am guessing that during the week, business is almost non existent.
I will not name the other restaurant, but will review it accordingly.
