We arrived at the hotel around 4.30 and had a quick check in. We'd reserved a standard sea view room through Tripadvisor payable at the hotel. Our room was 608 which was clean and had a king size bed with the nice sea views. The shower was very nice, the bathroom lighting adequate, plenty of soap, shampoo, etc. that was generously replenished during our two night stay. The bed was comfortable and we slept well apart from the noisy neighbors shouting during the night. The soundproofing is likely adequate when speaking at normal volumes. The location is just on the edge of town (although everything is within walking distance) and there is an Unimark grocery store for picking up water and snacks for the trek. We also had a massage in the spa which was nice and inexpensive by U.S. standards. On our first day we had an early pick up and were able to have a continental breakfast in the restaurant beginning at six which was great for watching a beautiful sunrise. The second morning we arrived about 9.30 and the restaurant was very busy, cereals and coffee running low. The staff quickly attended to the items. Hot food was limited in the vegetarian department so we stuck to granola and toast. Overall the hotel was pleasant, in spite of the noise, for a comfortable stay.
We went up to the Sky Bar for a great view. You get a great vista over the water and over the city--and the drinks are good.
The hotel has a nice buffet with a large dessert table. Very delicious cakes. Also the view from Sky bar on 11th floor has a fantastic view. Drink I will recommend there is the local Pisco Sour.
We treated ourselves to a night here after a tough hike at Torres. We had a tour cancelled and the city itself doesn't offer much to walk around. We asked to check in early and they took our bags into a safe room and we were able to get into our room over an hour early! Staff knew English and were able to answer our questions. Nice grocery store across the street to get some snacks. We were able to pay for a taxi on our room bill so we could use our credit card. Pool/spa were nice (had to wear swim cap which looked silly). Hot tub wasn't very hot but views were spectacular. Rooms are HUGE with 5 star views and finishes. We wished we stayed here longer!!!
I have stayed twice at this hotel and enjoyed my stay both times. Very comfortable once you get used to the fact that your alarm clock will never have the right time since the electricity goes off once you remove your room key from the socket by the entrance, resetting the clock each time.
The breakfast is absolutely wonderful with a wide assortment of fruits, pasties and hot dishes.
This is a great hotel in the center of Punta Arenas, there is a small casino on the Ground Floor that is a great place to hang out and enjoy some food, drinks or music in case the weather outside is bad. The view in either direction is great, you either are on the side of the Strait or a view of this city. The City center is just blocks away and easy to walk to, plenty of restaurants and entertainment within walking distance.
