We added a 3-day trip to Siem Reap while on an extended vacation to Bangkok. We didn't know much about the accommodations in the area so relied on other TA reviews and pictures to choose the Privilege Floor. We often stay at Park Hyatt hotels so our expectations are high for service and general tranquility.
On arrival, we were greeted by very warm and welcoming people - including Alex the manager of the Privilege Floor and were then escorted to the check-in on the top floor. The overall appearance on arrival was cool - nice grounds, beautiful main lobby and, again, everyone was nice and gracious.
Our room included breakfast and return transfer to the airport which is recommended. There are two options for food - upstairs to Privilege Floor guests and downstairs in the cafe. Both locations were great with the downstairs having more choices. My wife and I are both espresso drinkers and it's always a nice bonus to have that as an option...although regular coffee was good as well. The room was large, had excellent internet connectivity, and included a large shower (there was also a large claw's foot tub but not something we typically use). Water was extremely hot when needed. I didn't notice a 'don't drink the water' sign but we were advised of that and had plenty of bottled water as needed. We've found that to be pretty typical of accommodations in SE Asia but just a heads-up for the infrequent traveler.
The best part of the stay has been the service. Every single time we step out of the room, we're asked if there is anything that can be done for us. I took advantage of the spa services and was not disappointed. We also booked two tours - including a car an guide for each - through the hotel and found both the driver and guide as polite and the guide knowledgeable. Something that you expect but always a nice surprise when you get it!
The gym was fully equipped so nothing wrong with that.
One other nice unexpected bonus. I came back from a run in the early AM and let's just say I needed a few minutes to chill as it was pretty warm. I asked for a towel and the young guy at the main drive-in area went off to get one. He came back with a cold towel! Major score from my perspective. Bars open early so all is good on that front.
In terms of location, the hotel is approximately 1 Km from the main downtown area of restaurants, bars and merchants. Definitely not a place I want to stay - too noisy down there so being nearby without the noise was a plus. A quick tuk tuk ride away for a few bucks was worth it.
The only thing we noticed that could be improved was that the common areas seemed a bit warm - not sure if that's intentional or off-season dialing down of the A/C. When you're coming from outside and walk through areas that are still warm - it's noticeable - but definitely not a deal-breaker.
Overall - an extremely surprising and excellent experience for a last-minute trip. Would return here again if only because the service was really nice.
Hope this helps others when selecting a place to stay.
