We used Longstreet Inn as a base for exploring National Park.

Upon check-in, we were not given the room type we had reserved, but instead were provided a much small room. The lady at the front deck did correct this after we went back down to the registration desk and they gave us keys to the correct room type. We could not call the front desk as the phones in the rooms do not work. After settling into the room, we discovered the toilet was plugged and would not flush. After another journey to the registration desk, we were informed they had no maintenance staff available and the hotel was fully booked and could only offer us a plunger to try and clear the toilet ourselves. After expressing our disappointment, the front desk clerk was made available to help plunge the toilet. She literally had to check every maintenance and housekeeping closet in the entire establishment before finding the one elusive plunger belonging to the hotel. Unfortunately, she was unable to clear the toilet. We were then offered another room of the same type, however in this room the toilet would not stop running. When we told the staff about this toilet, they said the hotel was full and there were no other rooms. Thus leaving us the option of keeping the room with the running toilet, or retrieving the plunger and trying to clear the toilet in the first room ourselves...

The rooms themselves were large. The bed was actually very comfortable. But every night, we could hear the people or the TV in the adjacent room. They had an extra sink and counter outside of the bathroom which is always nice. At the end of the day the staff was nice, but appeared short staffed in several areas.

The casino had only slots and video games like poker and blackjack. There are no live table games. The main drawback to the casino is when you want to leave a machine, you must get a staff member to cash you out. There are no changing machines without getting a staff member to cash you out of your previous machine first. And if you are owed more than $10, a second signature from a manager is required before you can leave your machine.

Longstreet Inn could be an oasis, but is instead dated and needs more maintenance than is provided. It is situated on the California Nevada Boarder. Nothing else is around except the Stateline Saloon across the highway. It is an option for a place to stay near Death Valley National Park. Longstreet Inn is more economical and far more available than accommodations within Death Valley which tend to book early, but it is a bit of a drive to the park's main attractions.

If you do stay here be sure to visit nearby Ash Meadows national Wildlife Reserve.

Room tip: If you stay on the second floor, you will need to go down a flight of stairs leading from the elevator to the hotel rooms.

Wanted to do Sunrise at Ash Meadows NWR for early birding, but from Las Vegas would have had to wake up at 0'dark thirty to get there. Searched for hotels nearby and found this convenient location. It's really the only location. Booked only room available last minute which was a lakeview suite. Worked out perfectly. We left Vegas early the day before and did about 8 hours at Death Valley then dinner and spent the night here. Comfy king bed, clean and tidy room. Restaurant food for dinner is just fair. Breakfast was pretty good though. Manage your expectations and you'll be very happy here.

Upin arrival was told overbooked for 1 night of our 2 night confirmed stay. Would give us a room for a night but on our own for figuring out refrigerator stuff in rv. Also we had to pay rv rate for room. Not good customer service. Thank goodness we found somewhere but so much inconvenience

The hotel was really nice and very clean, our room had access to the lake to take our dog out. The lake view, restaurant and casino were awesome. Great place to buy gas and pet the animals in the petting zoo. The staff were professional and polite.

Room tip: Really nice hotel.

We were driving from Phoenix to Bend, OR and needed a little pit stop. We weren't expecting much, but this was a pleasant stop! We got the king suite, which had a nice fireplace and love seat, as well as a little balcony that looked over the pond and had a beautiful view of the sunset and the mountains. The rooms are a little dated, but definitely clean, spacious and comfortable. The staff was friendly and we got some chicken wings at the little diner that were really good! We would definitely stop here again.
