Our trip didn’t start well when our airport transfer didn’t turn up to bring us to the hotel even though we had arranged via email with them. And when we arrived, we were told they didn’t have our booking. Luckily they had rooms for the few nights we had booked and thankfully that’s where the bad news ended.
Although located a few kilometers out of the city proper, the property is in a wide, tranquil and beautiful section of the Mekong. Our rooms were quite spacious, the furniture tasteful and in good condition and everything worked well. Room maintenance was also very good each day. Breakfast was a modest buffet with a noodle and omelette station but with an outside table with a spectacular view of the river, breakfast was most enjoyable. One thing the chef should do is vary the menu a bit each day which didn’t happen. There is a lounge and bar amidst the lovely grounds which is very pleasant in the evenings as well. A mini van shuttles guests to the city till the early evening.
The staff were all extremely helpful and courteous and must be commended. If you are looking for a peaceful place to relax away from the main tourist crowd, I would recommend the Grand Luang Prabang. We had a lovely stay except for the initial problem which prevents the highest rating from me.More
