Lovely hotel in an unbeatable location right on the banks of the Mekong river. It's a few km out of town but a regular free shuttle bus takes care of that. We didn't try the restaurant for dinner as there are so many restaurants in town. Breakfast was ok though, a selection of Asian and Western. Eating breakfast overlooking the river was amazing, such an impressive river and so peaceful. If the finances will stretch to it then book a river view room - absolutely superb.

Room Tip: a river view room with balcony offers exceptional views

I had the great fortune of staying in this fabulous hotel after arriving at my hotel to be told they over booked.
I was sent to the Grand as the whole town was booked for the New Years holiday.
What a treat! The room, service and grounds were super.
I have stayed in great hotels all over the world and to find this gem on the Mekong River in Laos was shear luck.
The grounds are the best view of the Mekong in Luang Prabang. Sweeping views from what was the property of a Loation Prince. Stunning!
Breakfast was great with views of the river in the morning that are breath taking.
I didn't choose this property but YOU SHOULD!!!!!

We called in after a visit to the Kuang Si waterfalls. It was very strange and eerie and seemed almost deserted and we didn't see a single guest whilst we were there. Sat outside with lovely views of the Mekong River and lovely peaceful place to relax in beautiful well maintained grounds. We had cheese and salami baguettes which were lovely. We served fried bamboo initially with our beers which was very interesting.

My husband and I were here on work for him and we stayed at the Grand Luang Prabang for 12 nights. It is a very beautiful and historic hotel next to the Mekong River - an oasis away form the hustle and bustle of town. We had a lovely river view from our room. What especially touched us was the outstanding service and kindness of the staff. We got to know them all well after 13 days. Such lovely people! A good buffet breakfast was provided each morning. We enjoyed many lunch and dinner meals here, too. Very peaceful swimming pool area. It is a 10 - 15 minute ride into town depending on where you're going. They offer a shuttle service several times a day. We used both the shuttle and a wonderful tuk tuk driver named Watana. The hotel can call him. Champion, Phap, Rock, Maggie and the rest of the entire staff were wonderful. We'll miss them.
