My partner and I stayed for two nights in August 2014. When we arrived we were really taken with the location of the hotel, however we soon encountered countless issues. Firstly, when we checked in at reception we were asked by a member of staff and then by the manager if we wanted to stay in an apartment in the village rather than in the room we had booked in the hotel.... so it seemed that the staff were trying to take business away from their own hotel! We decided to stick with the room we'd booked. Initially our room seemed fine but when we opened the bathroom door we discovered a lingering smell of sewerage.
Secondly by the morning of our second day we had nearly run out of toilet roll and even though our room was apparently 'cleaned' our toilet roll was not replenished. We visited reception to report the sewerage smell and lack of loo roll issues at 10am and when we returned from our day out at 8pm we still did not have any toilet roll and their solution to the sewerage smell was to leave a bottle of toilet cleaner in the bathroom!
In terms of the breakfast and dinner service, I am vegetarian and the choice of veggie food was extremely limited. They also didn't label any of the food so I kept having to ask the barely visible restaurant staff whether or not... My partner and I stayed for two nights in August 2014. In terms of the breakfast and dinner service, I am vegetarian and the choice of veggie food was extremely limited. They also didn't label any of the food so I kept having to ask the barely visible restaurant staff whether or not dishes were vegetarian - the restaurant manager's response to my questions was typically one of rudeness. Also on one occasion I was told that a soup was vegetarian and I would bet money on it actually containing meat (unfortunately I had to eat some to come to this conclusion).
During our stay we also asked the reception staff to help us find a scooter rental company. They needed prompting on three occasions at 2pm, 5pm and 8pm to do so.
We complained about our stay on our second and last days but the hotel's manager immediately became defensive, would not listen to us, raised her voice and said she did not "have time for this". They reluctantly gave us a 10% discount which was something, but what we really wanted was an enjoyable stay in a hotel which has all the right elements on the face of it - a beautiful location on a beautiful island (where there are very few accommodation options) - apart from fundamental customer service skills!More
