Booked 1 night at the Stari Grad in the middle of our weeks stay in Mlini so we could get the best out of our visit to Dubrovnik.

What a great little hotel with a fantastic location just of The Stradun. I'd sent a couple of emails prior to arriving and got replies almost instantly. I knew check in wasn't until 2pm but we called in just to leave our overnight bag & we were offered to check straight in, we were over the moon. It was very friendly & welcoming.

The rooms are snug and slightly smaller than average single beds in our twin but comfortable enough. Good quality bathroom amenities which we appreciated and really clean.

We got in after many hours on our feet sightseeing and tried to relax but we were cold in the room. We decided to go back out for dinner. We mentioned the temperature on the way out and when we got back in it was lovely & warm. It was not the best weather & I understand that one minute it was a/c that was needed and the next minute the heating. Main thing is that we were listened to and the staff sorted it.

Stair cases were noisy when people were coming down from the restaurant but it wasn't like it was until the early hour of the morning so didn't effect our stay.

Breakfast was in the roof top restaurant and was the best view I've had whilst eating breakfast. Only thing I'd change would be to have a nice soft bun with your egg rather than the hard thing my teeth couldn't handle.

My one tip, if your only going to stay a night or two here then I suggest checking out the port authority website & stay the days when there are less cruise ships in, it makes for much better sight seeing.

I'd definitely stay here again.

Beautiful hotel in charming side street just off the Main Street. Staff are all very kind and attentive. As you will read on other reviews, no elevator so trip to the upper floors is a bit of a trek with 69 steps to the fourth floor where we were based (402)) and about another 20 to get to the roof top restaurant where breakfast is served and where we recommend you go for an exquisite dinner looking over the dusk of Dubrovnik. But it's well worth it and think of the extra calories burned off.

Our room is on top floor with cheeky views over the old town. Be prepared for noise from the restaurant that is just above and the hotel is alive pretty much up to 1130 with peace reigning until 7am but hey who wants a lie in when there's so many lovely things to do.

I'd say the best place to stay in beautiful Dubrovnik.

Other tips for the city: first walk the walls, then take the cable car and see the Homeland museum in the fort above the town which gives a harrowing but worthwhile take on the 91/92 bombardment on the city - then have dinner at Panorama and head back into town and have a beer at Buza 1 and 11 looking over the sea.

Then have dinner on the rooftop terrace at your own beautiful hotel.

This quaint, small hotel is right in the middle of old town. The service is unbelievable - especially Jelena, Natasha, and the two Majas. Breakfast is included and you den in the only rooftop restaurant in the old town. Great location, great room, and great service - what more can you ask for?

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hotel Stari Grad! The rooms are very nice, the people are so friendly and helpful, and the food was great!! The view from the top terrace is beautiful! Also, the hotel is in a great location, so it makes it very easy to walk around Dubrovnik. We hope to go back some day!

Room tip: The rooms are very nice, clean, plenty of room, the bathroom had everything we needed.

We stayed here for the first stop on our honeymoon. We were the only ones at the hotel as we were visiting just after the high season. Room was clean and well kept. Staff was very helpful and even gave us a glass of wine on the roof one night, on the house. The location is prime if you want to tour the old city, and the rooftop restaurant is the only one in the old city and offers amazing views. If you drive, keep in mind they do not allow cars in the walls, so you will have to park a bit and walk. The hotel is at the Pile Gate, so make sure to drop off your bags at the taxi stand outside the gate, bring them in, and then go park long term.
