If you are in Dubrovnik you MUST walk the wall. It only takes 1-2 hours & the views are worth it!! Purchase the 1 or multi-day pass which provides access to the walls, many of the museums & discounts in restaurants & shops.

We walked the city walls in the morning, but was still very hot, so hot I bought a hat!!! You can't come to Dubrovnik and not walk these walls. The view is magnificent well worth it. I would do it again at sunset as I'm sure it will be beautiful.
It is very popular and can be crowded in places so patience is needed. There is a lovely bar near the end where we had a refreshing freshly squeezed juice.

GOBSMACKED! What a beautiful part of the world. The damage sustained during the war in early 1990 have left a mark - but also encouraged the locals to rebuild their beautiful city. With buildings from 7AD and new roofs on just about everything in town - this is a delight. I was thrilled to see just a minimum of graffiti. It is abundantly clear that the local understand the benefit of tourism (11 billion euros last year). The city is clean, the locals are friendly and the place is a delight to visit.

This is best done first thing in the morning or as late in the day as possible. One to avoid cruise tourists and two to avoid hottest time of day. Take water with you and a hat. Apart from a couple of stops where you can purchase ice cream etc there is no shade. Apart from the cable car there is no place better for stunning views of the walled city.

Went at 8.30am around the city walls which are just over a mile.
The views are stunning. There are a number of small cafes on the walls for refreshments.
Crowds from the tours and cruise ships begin to arrive at 9.30 so go early.
This is well worth the fee.
