We stayed for a week; booked into a deluxe room we were upgraded to a suite in the older part of the hotel, with a wonderful view of both the city from one (long) balcony and Lokrum and the sea from the other facing the front. The hotel is only 4-5 minutes' walk from the eastern gate into the old town. The suite itself was calm and cool, decorated in grey and white; one bathroom with bath and shower and a second shower room, both with WCs. Our sitting room was most comfortable and the bed was superb.
Standard continental/cooked breakfast is served from 0630 in the lower restaurant. It was all OK to good; excellent eggs Benedict and a reasonable range of hot food; tended to be a little on the cool side for me, but the roasted sausage was delicious. Good bread, reasonable fruit juice. We didn't eat in the hotel in the evenings as there were too many restaurants in town.
The common sitting areas are furnished in an eclectic and interesting mix of modern furniture, with a varied selection of coffee table books. Perhaps though the most spectacular part is the indoor pool, 25m with adjacent spa. Simply magnificent. outside down a few steps is a large terrace from which you can bathe in the sea. Sunloungers provided; sunshades rather small and fragile!

The hotel is a popular wedding venue, with a dining terrace and of course the city as a wonderful backdrop. Double-glazing almost abolished the sounds of the band but on the third night of loud music we politely enquired when it might end, as the booming bass was a little intrusive. This was met with an apology and complimentary bottle of wine. That's service. Indeed all the staff were delightful, charming and helpful, with immediate attention to any request. Altogether we had a wonderful stay. But sadly such luxury does come at a price. Worthit? Certainly it was for us.More
