The two bedroom flat was very clean and comfortable.itbwasvjust the two of us who rented the flat ️ Kitchen was well fitted and provided even the dishwasher powder.a family of 4 would find it perfect especially with small children. The sofa opens into a double bed. The washing machine was very quick and clean. The location is a 20 minute bus ride to split centre and Uber is even quicker. The owner was very helpful. The beach is a good 15 minute walk but by car a few minutes. There are two supermarkets nearby including Lidl. We found a shortcut. There are better restaurants in split centre. We did not however try the local ones as out early and back late. Go for it
Let's talk about Dominik, our host, first:
Dominik was amazing. He was consistently really helpful - he answered all my communications and questions about everything before we went really promptly with excellent English and this continued during our stay. He was also great on the day of our (my mum, brother and myself – three adults) arrival at the apartment. He was there to greet us and was just lovely. He gave us some maps and lots of really useful 'tips' for the location - an insider's knowledge, if you will. This was beyond useful and we made use of pretty much everything he suggested.
The apartment itself was great, and we fell in love with it even more during our stay.
It is down a road that at least on first attempt is a slight rabbit warren, and for my first attempt at finding the apartment I went down a fork that took me to a car service garage haha. That really confused me initially, but after that finding the place was really not that difficult at all.
We stayed there for two weeks, and did a lot of driving with our car - however we pretty much always were able to park next to the apartment with very little difficulty. I think during Peak Season parking has the potential to be quite difficult as there are a lot of apartments in the area as well as the local people, but it's free parking so it should be possible to squeeze in somewhere close by.
This apartment is on the second floor, which is up a couple of flights of stairs. I didn't see a lift there so that's something to beware of - perhaps talk with Dominik if this is an issue for you to see if there's a solution to this. That wasn't an issue for us so I didn't ask.
The apartment itself is really lovely and accurately represented by the pictures.
The balcony is just beautiful. It has an unobstructed view down to the sea (more about that later). The balcony is a nice size with a small table and two proper outside seats. For more seats you have to bring some of the stalls from inside outside. The balcony does not really catch much sunlight, but that works quite well as it's hot in the summer!
The apartment looks like it's only recently been renovated. There is a lounge with a sofa in it (I believe this is a sofa bed but we didn't need to use it) and a TV (which looked nice but we didn't use it as we were mostly out and about). The lounge leads onto the balcony, which has big sliding doors and shutters that can be closed.
As part of the same room there is then also a large table and a really nicely designed kitchen.
The kitchen is great. There's lots of glasses/mugs/plates/bowls/cutlery/pots and pans etc. There is a large fridge with a small freezer above it. Dominik kindly provided a few starting goods in the fridge, which was very nice of him, and there was some tea/sugar provided. There was a microwave and also an oven, with a couple of electric hobs.
The shining point of the kitchen was a half-sized dishwasher! It was awesome. A few tabs were provided, which also really helped. It really made a phenomenal difference to our stay, as we did quite a few breakfasts at the apartment with produce from the local supermarket. Yummy!
The bathroom was well stocked with lots of toilet paper and towels. The shower was over the bath and it was really nice with good water pressure, something that is important to us. There was enough hot water in the tank to do two showers but not quite three (unless we were super quick), so as there were three of us we would stagger the showers between evening and morning - this worked well. The toilet was cool as you can flush it as long as you like, which isn't something I've ever come across before. There were two sinks and there was also a washing machine! Again Dominik provided tabs and water softener, and again this made a big difference to our holiday. The washing was hung on the balcony on a drying rack provided and in the heat everything was dry very quickly!
There are two large bedrooms, one with two single beds and lots of storage space. There was also a glass door out onto a tiny balcony at the rear of the building. The other bedroom had a large large bed (King? Queen? It’s big!) and lots of storage space. There was again a glass door onto a tiny balcony at the rear of the building. It’s not something that you can really use but it’s nice that it’s there. The door glass is covered with shutters that can be opened or closed.
There is one air con unit in the lounge, which is powerful and can cool the whole apartment down. It cleverly turns off if the balcony door is opened. As the air con wasn't in the bedrooms we would cool the place down whilst we were out and then shut the bedroom doors to stop the heat getting back in - this worked well.
There was also a WiFi code provided for the WiFi - we made lots of light use of this, and it worked perfectly. I didn't challenge it with heavy usage but it seemed fine.
In terms of location:
The apartment is near a small supermarket and slightly further away is a pharmacy. The sea is about... a ten minute walk away. It is down a relatively steep hill (or up if you're coming back to the apartment!). Again something to take into account.
The beach down there (Žnjana beach) was just great. It's NOT a sandy beach but that was perfect for us as we’re not that keen on sand. It's made of lots of small pebbles (beware your feet). It's only been newly built up I think so it's not over-done thankfully. There's some small little restaurants and some beach-type bars offering seating etc. overlooking the sea. It's all really nice. The pebbles meant we did not get sand everywhere (phew). There are small little cubicle places where you can get changed in privacy and some metal showers in the open (with cold cold water – colder than the sea!).
The water is beautiful. The sea gets deep quickly, it's all nicely cordoned off with how far out you can go. The water is clean and lovely to swim in. I'm quite fussy about going out in sea but this was perfect, I didn't feel unsafe at all. It's mostly nice and settled water but it's not without waves! We did not have children with us but there were lots of children enjoying the area as well. There was also lots of opportunity for other activities such as diving and jet skiing. I believe Dominik is happy to help you organise this if you need.
As I said earlier, we had a car, and we could not have asked for a better location to get out and about. We were super close to the main road driving in to central Split. We walked around the old town (amazing) and also made use of the national ferry service. We took the ferry out to both Brač (Zlatni Rat is pretty cool) and Hvar (Stari Grad is quaint and Hvar (on Hvar) is very smart!) – we went with the car, which is more expensive but it was well worth it.
On mainland Croatia we were very well placed for lots of other places too, because not only is Split quite central but we were close enough to all the larger roads including the beautiful toll A1 which covers vast distances. We drove up to Krka National Park – out of this world stunning – and on another day went even further up to Plitvice Lakes National Park. Both well worthwhile and different enough from each other. We also on one day drove all the way to Dubrovnik. This is quite the trek – at least three hours each way – but the coastline is just beautiful and Dubrovnik is lovely. If you want to do this you’ll need your passports to get through the border for Bosnia and Herzegovina, which I stupidly didn’t realise but luckily we had them on us.
It was just perfect and we are so grateful to Dominik for offering such a lovely apartment and for being so lovely to us.
Many thanks Dominik!
We wish you all the very best,
Lydia, Val and Matt.
Lovely spacious apartment with a brilliant view of the sea and island of Brac from the balcony. Dominik was really helpful both before and during the stay and arranged for his brother to collect us from the airport even though it was late at night.
It was easy to access Split both by foot and by bus and we were able to park our hire car outside the apartment.
There is a lovely beach cafe and great pizzeria both only 5 minute walk away and the supermarket is only about a 5 minute walk away too.
We liked being able to get into Split easily but staying outside the centre as it was quieter and the beaches were nice.
We had a great time and would recommend the apartment!
Just returned from a great family holiday staying in this property for 10 days. Very spacious and clean with beautiful sea views. The owners are very friendly and helpful and provide everything you could need. The location was excellent for us - 5 mins walk to the beach and 10 mins on the bus to the Old Town, as well as several supermarkets and restaurants nearby. It was an easy and relaxing holiday, especially, with a young child and we'll definitely return!
