We recently stayed in hotel Global during our visit to Croatia. It is a charming hotel, staff are excellent, nothing to much trouble and all very helpful and polite. Our room was enormous as was the bed. The bathroom had free toiletries and soft white towels. The room had a safe, refrigerator and even free water. It is about a fifteen minute walk from the sea front, but a very pleasant walk. The old Palace is intriguing, we took a combined bus and walking tour. Our Guide was very informative going round the palace and made the visit interesting. We actually stayed on after the tour and did a bit more exploring.

Room tip: Ask for a room at the front of the hotel as these are the largest.

We travelled as a family of 3, and booked a triple room. We stayed for 1 night

Room - spacious room by the european standards. There was one double bed and one single bed, which is better than what most hotels provide: which is one double and one sofa bed. The beds were lovely and comfortable. The curtains were thick and blocked out most of the sunlight. The view from the large windows was of the town of Split and the mountains beyond which was nice. The room had good soundproofing and we all slept in late. The air conditioning worked fine and was easy to use. The bathroom was a small but clean. Enough towels were provided. The only thing that we would have liked would be toothbushes, toothpaste and combs.

Breakfast - This was uninspiring. A very small selection, and the hot items were not kept sufficiently warm. There was enough food to go around but it was not a great way to start the day. I recommend that if breakfast is not included in your room rate, you eat out instead.

Location - great location. Its a mere 10 minute walk into old town. We walked there at 10pm at night and there were still many people including tourists on the streets. We felt very safe at all times. There is a nice family friendly pub just outside the hotel, and a supermarket across the road that is very reasonably priced. We loved the freshly baked bread we bought there.

Staff - the receptionists were exceptionally helpful: giving us maps, travel tips and directing us to a free parking lot just outside the hotel (it costs 10 euros to park in the hotel's garage).

Amenities - there isn't anything to write here really: no pool, no spa, no outdoor space of any kind. There was no concierge service. I therefore would not rate this hotel as 4* but rather a nice 3*.

Value - In summer in Croatia, everything is expensive, and as the pound has depreciated, this hotel overall was not great value for money for us. It cost us £180, which is what we would expect to pay for a four star hotel in the UK, with more amenities.

Room tip: Top floors are quieter.

We stayed here a part of a Rick Steves tour and the online photos don't really do the rooms justice. We had a small room that I believe could be part of a family suite- it didn't have much floor space but had beautiful built in storage above the bed. the in room coffee/tea pot is nice. Large bathroom compared to many places we stayed.
the breakfast was good. It is pretty convenient to the Old Town, only about a 15 min walk.

Room tip: the small room we had was extremely quiet as it faces the interior wall

As part of a Rick Steves tour, I was throughly disappointed in this hotel. It's location was way too far from the main points of Split. The lack of cool air throughout the entire hotel was abysmal.
Breakfast was unsatisfactory. Hardly any choices, terrible coffee out of a machine.
I hit my toe on the shower lip twice. It is very odd.
The bed comfort is good. There is a bar next door for cocktails, etc.
Not that pleasant of a stay.

although this is a "older" hotel this is still a very good place to stay. The staff were very nice and helpful. The room was super comfy and I had a great view of the local mountains from my window. The location is close to the old city and within a few minutes walking distance. If i find myself back in Split I would make sure I return to the Globo.
