What a great experience! We did the tasting menu and they adjusted the food as I do not eat red meat and they did a wonderful job. Very accommodating with great service.

Food is a major interest for us when we are traveling (and at home...) so we make a point of researching dining opportunities ahead of time. We look for food that is beyond the norm, from the most delicious food trucks and street stands to chefs that are refined and inventive.

Our dinner at Manolo Caracol was all that we hoped for in the later category: a chef that starts with local food resources and traditional recipes and then elevates the cuisine to deliver delicious and interesting results. We highly recommend the many course tasting menu (called “taking the tour”) as it sets the chef free to demonstrate his innovative work. There was nothing “precious” with the results as we sometimes find in tasting menus that try to be too cute. Just tasty, distinctive food.

Reservations are a must. There were tables available while we dined but walk-ins were turned away. We surmised that this was because the prep work is extensive and done in the quantities needed for the specific night.

It's not easy to find in its new location on Calle 11 and Avenida A, but well worth the time and money to eat there. The entrance is filled with welcoming Chinese statues of cats waving their arms. Upstairs is a cozy and well-decorated space. Nice artwork, good lighting. The servers were all super attentive, friendly and helpful. We opted for a set course meal of small plates recommended by the chef. Each dish was more beautiful and tasty than the next, served with utmost care and detail to aesthetic presentation. And at about a half of the price, including wine, for a comparable meal in Chicago. What a great experience, would highly recommend this.

When you first arrive this place seems a little odd. The reception area is full of waving Chinese cats, so you feel like you are entering a Chinese restaurant, or some kind of home. Once you get up stairs the set up is basic and the menu is on a chalk board, because it is fresh and changes daily. We had the full taster menu which I would highly recommend. Every dish was delicious and beautifully presented. Incredible cuisine and excellent service. You can see everything being prepared in the open kitchen too. Highly recommend a visit here.

Dined here last week on Jan 24; a fairly small (seats about 50) upstairs restaurant.
Friendly and helpful staff and the Chef comes out to speak with diners. He altered a dish or two, on the spot, for a member of our party (!), no charge, and presented it within a couple of minutes!
Very innovative fusions of Panamanian-Chinese dishes. Do not miss Ceviche, it's wonderful. Nice wine samplings and parings, too.
We loved this restaurant
