It's a while since I was there but it was a fascinating place to stay. I didn't take the siege tour but was there for the "calm bunker party" on Saturday night. It was great fun. Located up a very steep street but very close to the city and very handy for the Sarajevo brewery. The hosts suggestions for places to visit and eat were right on the money. Fantastic experience.

If you are visiting Sarajevo to learn about the history then this hostel is definitely worth a visit! It is owned by Jasmine who worked fixing telephone lines in the trenches during the war. He still goes to the mountain where he was based and collects items from there to decorate the hostel. We took his tour up the mountain where he showed us the bunkers and trenches and also visited the 1984 Winter Olympics bobsleigh track. You need to take this tour because it is not safe by yourself as there are mines still nearby. It was really good to learn the history from someone who was there and to hear Jasmine's message.

Back at the hostel we experienced a war simulation and watched a documentary on the war in the bunker. I would highly recommend!

Any vist to this wonderful city should include at least one night here. Owned by a family who were involved in the war in the 1990s, the have recreated what was like during that horrific time. No furniture as all that would have been burned to keep them warm. Mattresses on the floor and army blankets (clean sheets were provided!!). The walls were adorned with newspaper articles of the time. Fascinating stay included a war mock up when the host made and lit a candle from a cup of cooking oil and a she lace which is how they survived. A film night included a choice of documentary or feature film. The film is shown in an incredible room which I will not spoil by describing. Show an interest and the host all fascinate you!!!! Little bit fiddly to find but quite near main road and National Library.

Room Tip: Any room will be fine!

Must place to stay on your Sarajevo visit if you want to learn about war and history! Make sure you take siege tour and tour to frontline, both of them are definitely worth the money! I can guarantee you'll learn a lot and get new aspects to your previous knowledge. Arijan and Yasmin are very helpful and can answer basically to all of your questions!

Wonderful place! Arijan, the son, is a very hospitable and easygoing guy, and his father Yasman was also very thoughtful. Yasman took my friend and I on a really wonderful tour of the frontline, detailing his experiences during the war, and outlining a series of fighting positions and bunkers which saw much blood and conflict. The hostel itself is very clean, and small; there are only enough spaces for about eight guests in total.

Do note that the hostel isn't smack in the middle of everything, as it's a little further up the road from the National LIbrary. That's only about an extra five minute walk though, and the neighborhood is quite safe at night.
