We have just returned from 7 nights at Teravaki Estate and hand on heart it is the BEST property we have ever stayed in.
.
It was our first trip to Rarotonga and while there were many things we wanted to see and do..... we spent 90% of our time swimming in the pool, reading on the day-bed or simply "hanging" at Teravaki.
.
These are our highlights;
.
1. THE POOL - It's deep, so plenty of space to bomb and dive to your hearts content. We've had a week of bombing competitions, relay races, diving competitions, underwater length races, synchonised swimming routines..... you name it, we did it!
.
2. THAT DAY BED - Yes, it's as good if not better than the photos. I read 3 books in 7 days, most of them either on the bed or floating on a lilo in the pool when it was too hot.
.
3. THE SPACE - The house is HUGE, so there's plenty of room for everyone. From the 10 seater tables (yes one inside and one out), to the couch that looks like it would fit a rugby team..... the place is designed around comfort, relaxing and having spaces for friends and family to gather.
.
4. THE VIEW - It's beautiful! You're a small way up a hill behind the airport overlooking the bush and out over the ocean. There's a particular spot in the pool where you can just hang over the edge and watch the world go by. 9 times out of 10 I'd find my husband down there with a beer nearby, UE boom in the background with a big smile on his face.
.
5. NO DEVICES - We have a couple of device obsessed daughters who went 7 days without using their ipads once. When they initially found out that they wouldn't be getting wifi the bottom lips dropped and it sounded like their worlds were ending......... then they found the pool, then the bush up the back of the property, then the frangipani trees, then the neighbours dog (renamed Prince for 7 days), then the roosters, then the chicken and her babies, then the tree that had mangos that turned out not to be mangos, then the kids at the bottom of the hill, then the creepy crawly bugs that freaked them out but they kept going back for more. It was like turning back the clock and watching our kids play like we did as kids, pre internet.
.
Thank you Ryan and whanau for the use of your beautiful home, it was a perfect holiday.
