Lovely area to walk around. Plenty to do and see. Lots of restaurants, coffee shops and bars. The area has a lovely vibe to it.

When visiting Lima, I stayed in Miraflores and walked to Barranco by the coastline. (Walk it if you have the the time as the view & smell of the ocean is beautiful.)
You pass the wooden bridge & entre into Barranco.

Stroll the streets, see the Artisan offers presented to you & see the colorful houses. Various street art work is covering old houses & walls.

From my perspective this is the best district in Lima.

LOVED this neighborhood! Take the free walking tour. Barranco is full of fascinating murals, artists, free-spirited people, and wonderful restaurants. Simply beautiful. Safe, walkable area of Lima.

I have lived in Lima for a few months now and I have to say that this is my favorite neighborhood. It is very artsy and there are lots of great places to explore usually at a fraction of the cost of Miraflores where most of the foreigners live (including myself).

While visiting Lima, stay in either Miraflores or Barranco. Miraflores has the gorgeous shoreline and upscale restaurants. Barranco has the amazing cafe society nightlife, ice cream parlours, outdoor gardens, and vivacity.
