We traveled to Cusco to visit Machu Picchu and selected this beautiful hotel located in very central place of the city.
I am giving 4 stars because the staff still need some training regarding making happy their clients. We were given a room that was not satisfactory to us and when we requested a change the room changed was worse. Finally after talks back and forth we got what we wanted.
The city and the climate were excellent. I recommend the hotel if they improve their customer services.

I have been at the JW Marriott in Cusco twice now. Julio Salas in the bar/restaurant made the trip memorable. Great recommendations on what to see/do in the area and A++ service. Beautiful rooms in a historic area. O2 available for the high altitude on demand. Everyone from the concierge to the check in staff to the restaurant staff (like Julio) was great.

My only complaint is the first time could have been better...I was surprised they could not easily offer medication for a headache. I travel A LOT for business (>50%) and almost every Marriott property I have stayed at globally has been able to give me tylenol equivalent on the spot. The JW in Cusco had to call a paramedic they have on 24/7 standby. Still, I cannot totally fault the hotel for that. I don't know why Marriott corporate doesn't require something so simple of their premier brand.

Dear GlobalSpanishTravel,

Thank you very much for sharing your comments about your stay with us at the JW Marriott El Convento Cusco.

I am happy to know our service delighted you, our staff is caring and very attentive any time you need them.

About your complaint I am so sorry if that caused you an inconvenience, but our policies are very clear and strict about giving medication to guests, we are not allowed to recommend or give any kind of pill or medicine because we do not know the effects or the equivalent in Peru of the medicine guests use in their countries, so it is our way to protect our guests.

Second time at the hotel and I can just say fantastic! It is worth every penny!

Service - great service from the beginning to the end of the experience. All our needs were cattered to. Everytime we were in the lobby we were offered tea or coffee courtesy of the hotel.

Food - For Cusco it is great food! Breakfast had several options, not your typical boring breakfast. Lunch and dinner were great, the menu was small but tasty.

Rooms - The rooms are great. Big bathrooms, great beds and overall well kept.

Hidden gem - You have to go to the ruins in the basement! A fine representation of Incan arquitecture. Also go to the pool!

Everything from the staff, the food, the amenities down to the smallest details in the design and architecture were beyond expectation. The organization and integration of services made it so the hotel itself was a destination that you did not want to leave. Every creature comfort of home, everything you need to stay connected to business and then some. We loved this place!

We stayed in Cusco for three nights in February of 2016. This is by far the best hotel we have ever stayed at! The property itself is gorgeous. It is built on top of ancient Incan ruins and is a restored 16th-century monastery. The hotel offers free tours of the ruins daily so we were able to check this out. Very unique and the hotel has a lot of character.

We were greeted with Coca tea which is supposed to help with elevation sickness but luckily we didn't feel sick at all (we took Diamox to prevent it). The hotel provides bottled water upon request (free-of-charge) and there were bottles waiting for us in the room. Also, the hotel has its own filtration system and drinking the tap water is totally safe (which I did).

We booked a Classic Inca Room. It had a shower and a tub. The room was very comfortable and had all the amenities we wanted: safe, iron and ironing board, and coffee maker. There was no need for us to travel with any adapters because the room had several outlets for 110 volt electronics, perfect for North American travelers.

The staff were very friendly and exceptionally helpful - they printed our Machu Picchu tickets, arranged transportation, and checked us in for our flight home. The daily breakfast buffet was incredible. We are vegetarians and there were plenty of yummy options for us. We especially loved the station where we could order eggs any which way we wanted.

We had dinner at Pirqa Restaurant in the hotel, which is one of Cusco's most popular restaurants. The food was fantastic and the portions were good.

The hotel is in a great location. We were able to walk to Plaza de Armas and other nice places from there. We also walked to Sacsahuayman which only took about 20 minutes. Save yourself the taxi fare and walk there if you can. It's mostly uphill but worth the walk as you'll see lots of interesting things along the way, including great views of Cusco.

Unfortunately, the hotel pool was closed during our stay so we didn't have a chance to check it out; however, we didn't go all the way to South America to go swimming so this wasn't a big deal.

I am so glad we booked this hotel and would highly recommend it to anyone who will be staying in Cusco. It is on a quiet street and we didn't hear any noise whatsoever. This is super important to us when we travel.

Thank you to all the staff at this hotel, especially Fernando, the Guest Service Manager. We didn't have a chance to meet in person but he answered all my emails prior to the trip and was very helpful.
