Mundo Alpaca is a great little place. We got to feed alpacas, llamas, and vicunas. We also learned a little about each of these animals, watched a weaver working on a tapestry, and looked at the equipment used to turn their hair into yarn. It was a fun visit and didn't cost a thing!

This is part gallery, part store, part zoo? My husband and I walked over from our airbnb and really enjoyed the time here. The alpacas were too busy eating to pay attention to us, but watching the women weaving was very interesting. Seeing/reading about the process of how the alpaca wool (and that from other animals) was turned into clothing and accessories was fascinating. Be ready to spend some money if you love soft, colorful sweaters, scarves and the like. Hint: they do have some things on clearance, still a little pricey, but worth it. It was the perfect way to spend a little time on a quiet afternoon.

Did this as part of my bus tour of arequipa. It is a nice draw to have the ¨zoo¨in the back with live alpacas, llama and vicugna but it is just a shop with expensive knitwear that I would not include in the tour but its there, so its fine to stop for a while.
